Just got this letter from Mario at the Resort in Regards to getting sick, this is a letter the hotel is sending out:
Hello Everyone , here is the official letter from the Management about the posts on unnoficial sites about "Guests being sick"

    Thanks to spread the word.

    Dear guest:
At Original Resorts, the welfare of our guests and employees is our first priority and we understand that we have to pay extra attention to the professional handling of food to live up to this premise. Thus, at our resorts, we have a strict quality control system that carefully monitors the whole process of handling the food, from the moment we receive the food to the time it is consumed, verifying these procedures obey international standards of health.

On a daily basis, the goods that we receive are carefully verified, ensuring that the packing, properties, shelf life and temperatures follow the most strict regulations on that matter. If a product presents critical elements cannot enter the Hotel. The products that do pass our rigid quality control measurements are supervised closely to make sure that the temperatures are appropriate while stored in the warehouse, being thawed and placed on buffet lines or chillers in order to avoid contamination at all cause.

Once the food is exposed in the buffets, it must comply with temperatures and the maximum exposure time regulations which we constantly monitor with digital thermometers.

We know that any system of quality control must have an external validation, so we have a laboratory perform a monthly bacteriological analysis. Samples of food at any stage of the handling process as well as ice, tab water and samples from the hands of the handlers of the food are taken randomly to be examined. And month after month, we have only good results.
Furthermore, we are proud to be listed as a company that has been awarded with the distinctive H (Hazzard Food) which has certified our four hotels in 2011 for compliance with the highest standards of food service practice in the tourism industry. This award provides distinguished recognition to food service providers in Mexico who demonstrate exceptional quality and safety in food preparation, handling, and services. Thus, our guests can be certain that our hotels are submitted to routine operational evaluation by the Mexico Ministry of Health, ensuring our total compliance with the highest standards given by the World Health Organization (WHO).
    Sincerely.

So why was every one sick ?
They refuse to admit there was a problem, they sent me an email saying I had allergies.?
I'm glad to see it seems to have past.
All resorts have theses things happen, they just did not handle the pr well
I'll just have to bring more drugs next time

Pool water! It could be in there. All you would have to do is put your hand to your face and you could get bacteria. Woody is doing the research.

If it were a flu bug, wouldn't the employees be sick too?

I emailed the resort and got the same form letter. All they talk about is the food. They way they droned on and on about their food practices and didn't refer to other issues, it makes me think they must have had a food problem at some point. At least that would be an easy thing to fix.

Based on reading all of these posts, I have to think its something to do with the pool. There is another thread talking about how the are not allowing body shots in the pool anymore. Could there be a link between the new rule and the illness? The reality is that once the pool is contaminated, the only fix is to drain it, clean it, and not let anyone who has an E-Coli issue back in the pool or it will start over again.

We are leaving in 9 days and I am very concerned. If anyone sees us on the beach, say Hello. We are not being anti-social, just avoiding the hershey squirts.

Hi guys, just a note re: pool, while we were there a guy from Que. I think his name was Dan, he did not go in the pool and he got very ill. The symptoms he had were pretty much the same as everyone else. My husband and myself were in both pools, Jeff was a bit ill when we got home and nothing happened to me. I noted other couples that both were in the pool, he got ill she didn't. So I wouldn't think the pool was causing the illness. Anyways from what we've been hearing nothing is happening now..

I didn't get as sick as some, but one night I got the runs (all evening) after eating fish that wasn't cooked all the way thru. I only ate a bite of it, but I think that's what caused my upset stomach.
