Getting in shape for TTR

    Hmmm.....well I find a little time spent sunbathing (nude) in our pool erases any insightly tan lines acquired by my cycling clothes! :D

    I have to give props to my wife on the hard work she's done. She has lost 39 pounds since the first of January and has just hit her first marked goal (days before TTR!!). She's got more to go by our anniversary which isn't until December but with her current motivation, she'll make it.

    The approach taken here is that she is not on a diet, because all diets ultimately fail. She has changed her eating habits. She has nearly cut all carbs out while the rest of us have reduced by probably 75%. She's also simply just eating healthier with smaller portions. She does the treadmill at the house for about an hour a day and does the Jillian video about twice a week. She'll join a gym when we get back from TTR to help tone and work those areas that the video and treadmill just can't do.

    As for me, round IS a shape :)

    Usually we do the same. Since this trip was sort of a last minute decision not so much for me. Alisa is in a wedding the week befor so she has been going nuts and looks great. With 2 weeks left to go I will never be at my goal wt but may be close since I lost a quick 10 this week.

    For us its a combo of diet ( ie lots of protein drinks with decreased carbs and no sugar and no snacking) and work out- running, Krav Maga, BJJ, wt training and many hours of the Bas Rutten work outs lol.

    I've been doing insanity. Just started the second month this week and I've already lost 20 pounds. After this month, I go into high gear training for a marathon that I'm running 10 days before TTR so if that doesn't get me in shape nothing will.

    Zack (of trevillyan) and I usually start lifting when it starts getting chilly out. Plus I will start watching what I eat and run a little more so that I can get back into my board shorts. Plus the wife likes me in 'em, and that makes it more worth the effort.

    Once football season starts we start getting serious...we have a routine for Sunday mornings...groceries...gym for the early game...pub for the 2nd game. It works wonders and when the season starts that means it's only 3 1/2 months til TTR!!!
