My approach is a hybrid of Lion's and Donald's: Monday morning through Friday afternoon, eat high protein/low carb, minimal alcohol and no beer, hard workouts daily. Then Friday night through Sunday, it's liver conditioning time!! :aktion052: Lion, getting the lay of the land takes about a day, then you're gonna wish you'd thrown in that leather vest! :aktion025:
You might wanna look into the keto diet to drop some bodyfat closer to your trip. I've lost about 15lbs this month on it and the wife is doing very well on it also. I'm hoping to be shredded by the time our trip rolls around.
Keto works but is very hard to maintain, even artificial sugar will pull you out of it. You can also buy keytones in various flavors, it does help. 15 pounds a month is a lot of weight to loose, and is almost unherdof without some "artificial" help, watch for loose skin if you loosing too fast.
I believe he is talking about an Atkins kind of Diets which is Low carbs and will put your body in ketosis, which means buring Fat for fuel instead of carbs. and yes it is posible in the first month depending on ofcourse how much you have to lose.. I averaged 2 lbs a week for 6 weeks.. and i didnt have much to lose.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure alot was water weight... I'm on a cyclic keto diet and do alot of distance runs. You hit the nail on the head in your description.
For anyone doing any type of diet, rely more on the mirror and tape measurements rather than weight. It can be very decieving. If u are on a low calorie diet and doing a lot of exercise you will definately burn calories and be in a caloric deficit which makes u lose weight BUT a scale wont tell you if you are losing fat, water, or muscle. Your body wants to survive and if its not getting enough calories or is burning way more than it intakes it will burn muscle alot sooner than it will fat and like i said earlier u may lose 10, 20, 30 pounds but you will look like a smaller version of what u were. I should say too that in no way am i a professional, just speaking from experience after 15 years of trying different methods, diets and exercise. Still learning from mistakes to this day and loving every moment of it.
I too am on a keto diet. But I a stay on it year round, it's a lifestyle change for me. It is very strict and I only eat carbs once or twice a week. My wife is also on it. A keto diet is a ton of protein and tons of clean fats. The best part of eating this way is we dont crash diet.
I don't have much time to work out either between my law practice and my son. I have an exercise DVD that is only 35 minutes long, and I make myself do it 4 nights a week after I get my son to bed at 8 pm. And I try to get to the gym for 30-40 minutes on the stepmill two days per week. I take reading for work with me to the gym so I can bill while I sweat! Brian, I don't think too many women prefer the muscle-bound hulk thing. I dated a man like that briefly, and it was like lying on a truckload of cauliflower heads! Not at all conducive to cuddling. I'm with Monique: nice to see some definition in the chest and upper arms. A little layer of padding is okay as long as there is some muscle underneath...no concave chests or spaghetti arms please! But you are already doing just fine...I remember from last April!
