It seems that allot of people are talking about the high prices for travel this year. I don't think that it is exclusive to TTR!
Awesome was just trying to prove that prices were not that high , took me all of 90 seconds to find a rate about $100 cheaper @ night. Some people as mentioned above don't know how to use search engines or that changing your departure dates by +/- a day can change things a lot. The worst is getting the prepackaged deals.(unless there last minute deals , which I have not seen at TTR)
I have read this from you before and you made me start looking at a nightly rate and then flights separately. I have never found a better deal doing it separately than the packages rates. I look at expedia, selloff, trip central etc. I have stopped looking at orbitz because of our dollar. Just to be clear-are you suggesting to book just the hotel portion and then do your flight separately or just stay away from nolitours and west jet vacations etc? Thanks!
I didn't do an exhaustive search by any means...was just pointing out that prices are freaking nutz even on sites that are known for decent prices overall. Thanks for the compliment in you other post
You'll always (I know...never say always) be better off when you combine air and hotel on sites like Expedia and such. I'm thinking that Donald was referring to prepackaged deals that come up when you search "Temptation Cancun vacation" or something similar in a search engine. You'll usually bring up a link or two that offers a prepackaged bundle deal.
NO I was just showing a room price in that instance ( used hotel search) But yes, always use the build your own package or click on the Hotel +flight option, never get the prepackaged tours for TTR. if you look at both separately it will be more, you have to do it together on their site using the Hotel +flight option , sometimes the discounts only show up on hte check out page, so go to the end
If we were only to do TTR and not utilize RCI and SFX etc we would barely break even over the 700 nights on our contract. I'd be dead before we could do 700 nights at TTR or I'd have to win the lottery, lol. If you just base price on TTR per night cost we are paying a lot more...possibly even more that what TTR posts on its web site for non members so we aren't comparing apples to apples here. It does how ever make our TTR stays a lot cheaper if we use SFX / RCI for stays...can get places that go $300-400 / night for $500 for a week (or less) in places. Really it all depends on how you use your membership. Our original contract was for 1000 night with 2.8 million points. We booked airfare to Cancun for less than $200 when it was close to a $1000 and got TTR at $70-80 / night. Total stay with air for 10 days was $1200 taxes in for both of us. Wasn't bad considering in 07 we paid $2400 on our first trip for 8 nights. Well that changed when RCI limited you to 60K points / year for travel so we upgraded / re-negotiated last November to the new program since we were pretty much screwed on the first contract (we bought in for the points for air). You really need to use the membership for other places to make it worthwhile and save money. Between our original contract and the new contract (we paid $18K in total for both) we have saved almost $5 K to TTR alone on 6 trips. Most of that was on the old contract btw. Cheers, Scott
Remember taxes have gone up in cancun area this year. For us canadians the dollar is down and that affects prices too. Yes Temptation has raised their prices but also understand they were sold out most of feb april n may last year so i think that's to be expected
Thanks for your honesty. Memberships work for some people n i'm glad you're getting your money's worth out of it
I have checked all the sites but in Canada we have only 3 main airlines which fly to cancun. Westjet,Air Canada,Sunwing. And 2 OR 3 vacation companies that do Temptation. Sunquest, Sunwing. Westjet does not deal with TTR directly. So when you search all these other sites they all based their prices from Sunquest or Sunwing. There is no competition in Canada. Will try Alpharooms but website is down. Westjet has the best flight times Arrive at 12:00noon and leaves at 430pm direct flight for $1450. will not do connecting flights Totally B.S.
