So appreciate this thread as we are TTR Newbies as well...making our first trip June 8-11. So excited to have fun!
15 tips from a Virgin trip in April. We were newbies in April. Here are my tips.... 1. Avoid the day 1 curse, yes it's very real. 2. Bring your own mug is optional, I actually enjoyed the smaller drinks. I could get something different quickly and talk to more people @ the bar. 3. Tip, Tip, Tip... Bartenders, Waiters, Housekeepers, etc. 4. CCC theme nights are fun, but the only 2 I really saw people participating in were schoolgirl night and lingerie night. lingerie night is a MUST. (p.s Find Jim the Chicken and take a pic with him, he's there somewhere.) 5. We didn't go on the Boobs Cruise, but definitely will next time as it sounds like a voyeur's paradise. The wife and I LOVE to watch. 6. If you like to watch, take a stroll in front of the Asian restaurant around 1-4am. Ya never know what's happening there. 7, AIWC was occasionally in the pool, but sounds like a necessity if you are boobs cruising. 8, Don't worry about ANY pressure to do ANYTHING!! I can't stress this enough. Nobody will tease you, talk about you, about anything. 18-80, 80lbs to 280lbs, they are all there in all sorts of outfits and dress. Day 1 you will look, by day 2 you realize "Nobody knows you and Nobody gives a shit!". 9. Order the sexy coffee if having dinner @ the Italian. 10. If there 5 days or more, take a "day off". Stay in the room with whomever and watch channel 12, go to the quiet pool, go to flea markets, XCaret, or something. It will recharge your mind and liver. 11. If spending the day @ the sexy pool, claim chairs by 7AM!!! CCC folks seemed to stay on the Jacuzzi end. 12. Careful in the Sexy Pool restrooms! VERY SLIPPERY! 13. Chat with the people @ checkin, just decline "breakfast" quickly. They didn't bug us again. 14. Sunscreen, Sunscreen, Sunscreen... esp the "Chi-Chi's" and Bald Heads 15. Ask for a room away from Patio's or sleep will be difficult! (Room 1218 was nice.) 16. MOST IMPORTANT..... relax, and prepare to plan your next trip! This is not a 5* resort, the food is good (not great), the alcohol is not top shelf (but plentiful), there is some paint chipping (but its not run down). It's all the vacationers and staff that make it AWESOME! After you leave you will dream about Sara, Paloma, Amy, Nathaniel and that one member of the opposite sex you stared at all week. Your liver will cuss out Jacq and the rest of the sexy pool bartenders. When you visit local restaurants you will wonder what Marceal is up to. We can't wait to return!
Those are great points! We did learn that the noise around Paty-O's get kinda loud at night, but we got a jacuzzi room, and our understanding is that those are in the more quiet area of the hotel. Also completely understand having some "recharge" time and taking it easy for a while.
We succumbed to the day (night) one curse and missed our Boobs Cruise the next day Definitely save some AIWC for around 3:30 in the sexy pool, gets the party started. Rooms near paty'o's aren't bad as long as you don't try to sleep before 2:00am and bring some decent ear plugs. We were there in April and the only theme night that was a total bust was rescuers. Enjoy yourself, make a point of talking to people, especially those with orange wristbands.
