We just describe the resort as Hedonism Lite and tell people they have to experience the place before making judgement. We all know the infamous saying..Never Judge A Book By It's Cover...
My wife and I we just talking about this subject last night with another TTR couple who are good friends of ours. They, on their last TTR trip told their family that they were staying at another resort. Well, unfortunately there was an emergency back home, and their family tried reaching them at said resort. No luck because they weren't there. No matter what you do in life, sometimes you're gonna have people judging.....who freakin' cares!! They don't live your life. We always just say where we're going, if they like it or not that's their problem! Looking forward to our next TTR trip soon here....
I leave the hotel number without the name of the resort. If there is an emergency they are gonna be in a mind set that really won't let them hear the name of the resort. Their focus will be on talking to us. So I don't worry. I also buy a plan with my cell phone that allows them to text me or call me direct and we check once a night. They have the hotel if they get desperate to get in contact with me.
We have only been to TTR once, and told close friends and a couple of understanding family members about where we stayed. Others we just said Cancun and played the 'I can't remember or can't pronounce the name' card when questioned. I like the Riu option, will use that from now on in certain situations.
We have always say the Riu as well - there are like a million of them (OK, maybe not that many, but enough), plus we have actually stayed at one in the past BEFORE we found Temptation, so we could honestly have an intelligent conversation about one of them if we were really pressed on the topic. Now that we have been to TTR, I have just started telling some people, "Oh... just a topless resort in Cancun." You'd be surprised - most people don't seem to mind. Or, they're like, "Oh wow, I've always wanted to try that! How is it?" Let your freak flag fly, Hannah, my dear. They're just jealous.
I think everyone I know including my bosses think I'm a swinger for this very reason, especially because we've gone back several times now. It's always "why don't you try somewhere else?" "You just like it because it's a swingers resort right?". I tell everyone the same thing that others have posted about adult only and party place, but it doesn't matter people are going to think what they want to think. I've just accepted this and don't care anymore what they think! Temp is well worth people thinking their narrow minded BS. You'll have a blast....I promise!
