Steve, I have been a member since 2007. I have always found this site to be very informative, and when I needed help on some of my BBG and TTR trips, you were there to give a hand. As the Administrator of this site, you have been spot on with needed rules, edits, and exclusions of threads and people who are just nasty. I support your changes 100% Thanks
Do we get a notification if our picture was denied? I have never tried to post media until now so just wondering.
Steve, Part of the problem with photos is self-induced by this forum software or the settings you are using. For example, we only show our albums to others we follow. Yet, if we post a new pic it is freely viewable to ANYONE if that user clicks media. Same is true for users not logged in and the search engine. So if you "really" want to cut down on porn and unwelcomed links. you should not allow anyone to view a photo unless they are logged in (thus blocking all crawlers & search engines) and adhere to the individual user's preferences. So if my photos are hidden from all users except those we follow, then a new photo post SHOULD NOT appear to the general public if they click "media". We used to show our faces until we found out our photos were being taken from here and appearing on other websites. Again, due to the fact that photos are freely downloadable by anyone and any scraper/crawler/bot.
Privacy options are configurable for each album. Every pic you add should be to an album. The ability to show the album to people you follow only or no one at all (private) are included in the options. I'm not responsible for incorrect privacy option settings, that's the member's responsibility. One of the changes I made is that pics are no longer indexable by search engines. You can verify that in the source code if you like. As for showing pics to people not logged in if they click the media tab. That is true if albums are set to public which is the default. I actually want people to see what Temptation is like. That's the whole point! The media section isn't intended to be a swingers catalog or some dropbox /icloud photo storage system. In any case registration is free and open to anyone, I can't see how requiring people to log in to see pics makes any difference. To "cut down on porn and unwelcome links" My logic is we don't provide options to hide such pics away, we don't allow them at all.
Great info Steve! I may pick your brain a little in August. I'm trying to learn more about directing traffic to my sites..
Thank you Steve! This site has been most helpful in helping us learn about Temptation and book our first trip in April.
