None confirmed, and as far as I know none suspected either. Nothing on the TV, newspapers or via gossip says otherwise.
I don't know what I would do if I were going this week myself. We returned Thurs. and I returned to work (at a hospital) today. You would think I had leprosy as no one wanted me around till I am back over a week. FYI the outbreak in NY where I am from is all in one HS. 150 of those kids spent spring break in Cancun returning last weekend. So yes they did pick it up in Cancun. The concern over THIS flu is the numbers of deaths in Mexico of people in the age group who would normally NOT have a death rate from flu. It is not your average flu. They have yet to figure out why those people are dying from it there. A vaccine for it will take months to make. Even staying strictly at the resort will not limit your exposure. You still have to go through the airport which last week was a cattle scene (3 hrs packed in a crowd). The employees at the resort who are cooking your food, making your drinks and cleaning your room will be coming in from outside the resort. As I said it is a tough decision but you need to think it out realisticly and wiegh the risk. Airlines are not allowing no charge cancellations out of the goodness of their hearts! I feel sorry for those of you going soon. It is a difficult decision.
As mentioned with no confirmed cases yet in Cancun, theoretically if you flew in from NYC (20 confirmed cases) you've got more chance of bringing it in than taking it out.
Thanks Steve, now I can tell everyone thats been driving me crazy that there is no problem in Cancun! And everybody here need not worry. Terry
A little update from the local TV from half an hour ago. There were actually 22 people who arrived at hospitals suffering from flu like symptoms in the last day or so. All were tested for Swine Flu and all have proved negative.
