Vanek is a stud, and when he's on, he's on....no better time than the playoffs to get hot....love it....Pens draw Ottawa in the first round, I like that matchup! On that note, my yearly playoff predictions Eastern Conference Quarterfinals Caps over Habs in 5 Devils over Flyers in 7 Sabres over Bruins in 6 Penguins over Senators in 6 Western Conference Quarterfinals Sharks over Avalanche in 7 Hawks over Preds in 5 Canucks over Kings in 7 Wings over Coyotes in 5 Eastern Conference Semifinals Penguins over Caps in 7 Sabres over Devils in 6 Western Conference Semifinals Wings over Sharks in 7 Hawks over Canucks in 7 Eastern Conference Finals Penguins over Sabres in 6 Western Conference Finals Hawks over Wings in 7 Stanley Cup Finals Penguins over Hawks in 7 Now, before I get jumped on for picking the Penguins to make it once again back to the cup finals, I know we haven't beaten the Caps this year, but I think since we've been there the past 2 years and won it last year, we know what it takes and how to turn it up when it matters. I think Ovechkin will try too hard in the playoffs to win it by himself, and that will be their downfall. I see the Hawks as the Penguins of two seasons ago, young, hungry but not quite ready to take it down. I fully expect these two teams to match up more than once in the finals in the coming years. Both teams are full of young talent and this can be the start of one of the best rivalries in years.
Fletch some good predictions but I'm guessing Devils and Sharks. I'm hoping for my Wings but not sure if Jimmy Howard can handle the pressure.
Worst case, if Jimmy cracks, you've got Ozzy on the bench to come in for some veteran leadership. He's been there, he knows what has to be done and how to get it done, but Jimmy has to learn sometime. I think he'll shine this post season, as he has all season
after what I saw tonight.....we wont even get out of the first round.....SCREW YOUR HEAD ON STRAIGHT FLEURY!!!
Kind of an odd first game for many teams. Only Phoenix and Buffalo won on home ice, pending the outcome of the late game. I don't remember a time when the road teams dominated like that. Well, tomorrow we will have some more action to check out.
To follow up your post, add Vancouver to that list of home winners in one heck of a game. How about them Habs?!? Cant say I like them at all, but for them to play the way they did, and come in and steal home ice from the mighty Caps....fantastic!!! Game 2 tonight....LETS GO PENGUINSSSSSSSSSS
