take us 1's for tipping and change and spending money at home into pesos you will get better value using pesos for example the hotel charges $5 US or 50 pesos for a half hour of internet for must do's go to coco bongos
Thanks for all the suggestions...will have pool attire in our backpack so we will be ready for action when we arrive...in the pool with drink in hand!
We've been to Mexico 11 times and have never exchanged US dollars for pesos. We just bring lots of ones and fives for tipping. 18 days and a wake up till the party starts again
You are not the only one's on here from SC, I'm originally from Blythewood and wife from West Columbia and now we live in Northeast Columbia.
Change currency at the airport, simplest and quickest, but one of the slightly more costly options. Easy and fast, though and no special trip required. Feel free to drink anything you want, including water, at TTR. Try Bartender Tiger's Rainbow and Wet Pussy shots, nasty name for a very good drink! There's lots to do at the resort, just talk too people and be outgoing, you'll have a great time. But, also, if a group is going somewhere to a club or whatever, don't hold back from going. Try one of the Boobs cruises, too. That's a killer time I hear from everyone who's been on the new boat!
Places to see, I would recommend going to Isla Mujeres considering you're not going on the Boobs Cruise. As for the water, it's fine. I was concerned about the water and was adamant before I went that I'd use bottled water for everything...second night I forgot and brushed my teeth with the water from the sink, with no further 'complications'...after that never bothered and had no complaints.
You really only need pesos if you are going to town to buy anythiing as the conversion is better at the banks and currancy shops. I was in Cancun last week and it is 12.1 at the currancy places I got 11 at the hotel. Lose almost $10 for every $100 at the hotel. We take alot of singles to TTR for tipping at the resorts. The bus is 8.5 pesos and will give change for an American dollar and you go right into downtown. WalMart is right there for anything you need. Don't forget to take an insulated cup with you as the cups are small and the drinks will melt or get warm. Have fun!
