Welcome to the boards! :) You will find tons of information on here and meet the most AMAZING people.... ever! :)

    Tips:
    -Pace yourself with drinking.
-Buy a "Bubba Keg" at walmart (A large thermos to hold your drinks while you are pool/beachside) - The cups they have are small and melt quickly in the hot sun. However.... stick to the cups for at least the first day to pace yourself and prepare your liver :)
    - Don't run in your room. Seriously. lol. They floors get moist and VERY slippery.
    - Definitely bring "Friend business cards". We always get some made by vistaprint. It just lists our cell numbers, fb page, and thats it. Nothing too personal. We always include a "It was nice meeting you" message somewhere on it :)
    - Honestly you pretty much live in your bathing suit all day except for when you go to eat(wear a cover-up) or when you go downtown. I've seen guys with there swimtrunks still on downtown but with a graphic tee of some sort. Lucky men! lol.
    - Bring a very light sweater. Some nights it gets a tad chilly by the tiki bar.
    - Definitely tip everyone. Tip when you get good service and tip in order to get good service. Just don't let anyone abuse the privilege.
    - Not everyone goes topless but once one top "goes down" it becomes a "convertible" resort. More go with the top down. :)
    - Give Fonzi or whoever is working at the Tiki bar a big tip on day one... and tip smaller daily and they will have your drink waiting for you before you even get to the bar!
    - MUST play tequila volleyball. It happens twice a day.... at 11am and 3pm I believe it was. It's Wildly entertaining. At the least, sit poolside during the game.
    - Get a massage. They are pricey..... but I enjoy them more than any other massage that I've ever had.... well except the ones given by a significant other where a "surprise" slips in at the end, lol.
    - If you would like an upgrade, it is cheaper to do it once you arrive at the hotel. It is generally about 30 USD + per night to upgrade from lagoon view to ocean view.
    - Balcony's can be VERY fun! :)
    - The 60s bar has a lot of adult games at night.... and karaoke! :) I personally LOVE the ping pong tables. I can play for hours!
    - If you tip the maids a couple bucks a day.... not only will you have plenty towels and a very clean room, but you will have "towel art" and sometimes flowers waiting for you on your bed. :)
    - Don't forget to pack dressy clothes for Shangri-La. Men need closed toed shoes, long pants, and a collared shirt. They have AMAZING food!
    - Visit the Great Parnassus at least once. There is a free shuttle that leaves every hour during the day and early evening. Eat at "Maison de Michele" at least once at Great Parnassus. It is also a dress up place. Order a mayan coffee.... even if you don't like coffee. They make it in front of you and it's truly incredible.
    - Take advantage of room service! It's free! The ice cream tastes different than in the states but it's delicious! Make sure you ask for a "Manzanita Sol". It's apple soda made by Pepsi. It's AMAZING! lol.
    - Lastly, (for now) Make sure you partake in the games by the pool. At least a few. They are so much fun and the entertainment staff works super hard! :)

Agrees with what HammieJ said. Only thing to change is now they use cabs to go back and forth between the Great and Golden and it's every 2 hours now.
The service is excellent everywhere and everyone is happy to be there but still tip everyone. We tip maids, servers, bartenders, the people cleaning the resort it's just a few bucks to us but it really goes a long way to making your stay and their day better.
The entertainment staff there is awesome!! Get involved with the games and activities like HammieJ said it just makes your trip that much better. Go catch a couple of the shows that they put on at night, they work hard to make them entertaining and usually I don't like stuff like that but they make it fun and I enjoyed all the ones we watched.
Make sure and try the drink hammiEJ suggested and also drink at least one 7up while there it is soooo much better than in the states I always put a fresh lime in mine it's amazing!
We got several towel critters in our room from the maids. They are cute and really neat trying to figure out how they made them.
Try the fried ice cream at the Sumo restaurant.
Take plenty of sun tan lotion. You can buy it at the hotel but its almost 20 a bottle.
