We tell them to stick it the minute we walk in the door. We have been there 14 times and never done a presentation. Don't answer the phone in the room either when they call in the more. See your representative at the Alternative bar for excursions. Just tell them you are not wasting a minute of time on timeshares.
Does anyone here have the timeshare?? What's their selling point in the presentation? My friend from work (who happens to be there right now) swears there some secret underground club for "members only". He's going to break in sometime this week!
Tell them that you are from the UK, they have never given us any hassle! They probably think it's too far for us to come!
whats with the deposit???? in cabo last year, we got suckered into it on the line" its an orientation to the resort" so we went. got a 5 min meeting, a 5 min walk around the resort, then the girl tried her hand at the time share. no thanks. at that point, we were passed off to a "canadian" who "loves it here so much he went to work here" and he really put the high pressure on. he was told no thanks, at least 4 times, and finally, after having enough, i said to him, look, apparently no isnt in you vocabulary, so may be "F OFF is". and left. no more problems. but i dont understand what the deposit is for. the enticement last year was a free excursion whale watching.
Now I understand what the deposit is for. The first two times we scheduled the "tour" to avoid the harrassment and then never showed up. It's a great way for them to make sure you show back up the next morning. The phone calling must be new. We never got a phone call the previous two years. Then again we are normally up and out of the room by 8am, so maybe we just always missed it.
Forgot to say, make sure you have a bathing suit and sunscreen in your carry-on. If you can't get into a room, you can change, let them hold your bags, and start the party:xyxthumbs: As for the deposit, they try to entice you to the timeshare presentation by offering you a free gift like a mug or bottle of tequila, then ask for a deposit to "hold" the gift for you.
Thanks so much for all the info. What about Cocobongos trip with resort. I have been to Cancun 6 times (first time at TTR), and have been to just about every club.
We checked in early, was told to come back at 3 for the room and as we stepped away one of the representatives snagged us, we sat down, listened to her presentation and maps, when she asked to sign us up for the tour I simply told her no thank you, I book travel on spur of the moment & couldn't really plan to far in advance. She offered a $50 coupon if we would meet her in the morning & I said "really. we aren't interested at all and it would be a waste of both of our time", she accepted it & we went off to find the bar, no pressure, no calls and no problems at all.
I gave a $20 tip last yr and got a nice room. Also gave cleaning lady $5 that afternoon and always had extra water and soda.
