Well really you are week 7, since it seems like everyone is calling Feb 16-23 "Week 8" this year. Which makes sense, since the first week of the year has four days in it, that should count as a week. I still hate the "Week 8" nomenclature, it is ambiguous and is a moving target depending on when the year starts. We need a much better name!
I agree fully with this, week 8 or any other week can land Wednesday to Wednesday haha, but all in all, I guess, its the company on the week that counts, if we all shifted to week 21 then what...hahahah Its crappy we are going to miss some people from last year, but we will make some new friends this year, and that is ok too, and we will have some overlap with friends from last year. All in all it will be much fun!
Here's my theory.... Whatever the name may be, I would bet that "Week 8" will consistently fall on whatever week "family Day" happens in Canada, and "President's Day" happens in the states. Both holidays are the 3rd week in February and it seems like most people take advantage of that extra day off to use for their trip. Also, that third week of February in Canada is "spring Break" for most Canadian Universities, but since most college/university students in Canada aren't over 21 they don't show up to Temptation. So Basically......Week 8 will kick off around the 3rd Monday of February........or maybe not, lol.
OK...Once again I will put to rest all the rumours of when 'Week 8' officially is & how it got it's name....On our first trip 10 years ago we met a group of crazy fun-loving people. The leader of that group was a guy named Johnny from Ocean City Maryland.Better known as Ocean City Johnny - OCJ. He had a timeshare at the resort adjacent to TTR that eventually became part of TTR. He had the 8th week of the year which started on the 1st Saturday of Jan. By always starting on that 1st Sat of the year there was no confusion as to when the weeks were. We always go the last 7 days of Feb to fit my baseball schedule as we start on March 1st. During this time we were always there for the majority of OCJ's trip. The term 'Week 8' was the signature of our group. There were no exact dates for 'Week 8' as it changes slightly from year to year.Your theory was good but Presidents Day & Family Day didn't have anything to do with it. Some of the original 'Week 8' group is still carrying on the tradition...Us NTBABY, Troy & Joyce -Fun in the Sun, Tom & Amy - T&A among others. Every year we add more wonderful people to the group. Technically this year 'Week 8' would be Feb 22nd - Mar 1st based on the old formula of OCJ's timeshare. Realistically any time the last two weeks of Feb you will run into many 'Week 8" people & have a great time. As far as that goes there is no bad time to go to TTR!!! We will be there Feb 20th - 27th. Hope to see some of you there. Hope this clears up some confusion :ernaehrung015: One more thing...there has been talk of changing the name of 'Week 8 Crew' to something different. Feel free to name your vacation whatever you feel comfortable with - we have many groups that do that in April, May, Labor Day, Halloween & Nov to name a few. I know many will still go on 'Week 8'. Yes I think your right actually, its Monday Feb 17th this year "Family day" and I totally forgot about that! We booked 10-15th but I am going to see if we can do a few extra days now.
