I have been several places in Cancun but Master Optical is the hands down best I have come across. Dr. David Orozco Pizano. Av. Coba 23, SM 22 (between Tulum Avenue and Yaxchilan). Respectable English, reasonable prices and good service. I don't feel you will be disappointed. It always feels good to find a new treasure in paradise.

I have a friend who also likes that service, but it seemed pricey to me, so I ended up using COSTCO with good results.

What kind of prices have you run into there?

V...I found his prices more than reasonable and actually gave him more than he asked for and still paid him less than other independent eye doctors in Cancun had charged me. I never considered Costco because everytime I visited the optical department there the staff was mostly "kids" and I did not feel warm and fuzzy. Additionally, I try to support as many independent locals as possible. No doubt you received good service or you would have said something about it.

Hmmmmmmmm.!!!! Very interesting. As a practicing licensed optometrist for 38 years in Massachusetts - and a frequent visitor to Cancun - this is the very 1st time that anyone has reported a doctor working at an optical shop.!!!! Whenever I see an optical shop - I always look to see what the equipment is..!! AND - usually there is nothing more than an auto-refraction instrument....!! No biomicroscope - no instrument for checking for glaucoma....So the person gets nothing more than possibly an updated eyeglass prescription.!! NO eye health examination at all. Were the pupils dilated for a good evaluation of the retina.???

Further....was this doctor an optometrist OR an ophthalmologist.???

At one point in time, I had thought of moving to Mexico and practicing and found that there is NO licensing requirement for an optometrist!!! :banghead:
