Just remember smoking doesn't make or help you lose weight, if that were true then I would be skinny!!! I'm still 30lbs over and I smoke. Like you I'm hoping once we get back we will try again to quit, very interested in the e-cig. I've heard good things about it. But then again just another crutch. Have to do somthing though, with everything going up in price we won't be able to afford to smoke, I guess what it will come down to is we smoke don't eat... ok I retract what I said previously... in this case I guess if we continue to smoke we will lose weight, we won't be able to afford food...LOL

haha!! we can deff show you the e-cig when you get there ..it works great for Bruce .. I know smoking doesnt help you loose weight but it does raise your metabolizem.. and when you stop.. it slows down which means your natural rate of burning calories slows down.. that is why they say exercising to keep your metabolizem up should help with burning a few more calories..thats why most people gain weight when they quit smoking .. I hope it works like this.. I am so done smoking .. my lungs hurt.. my skin is damaged.. my face is wrinkled from it .. there is really only 3 or 4 cigs a day that i really enjoy... after i eat.. and after I have completed a job, and i smoke a bit more than half a pack a day... I say why!!!
I dont even enjoy the rest.. hahah!!!

There is a book you should check out, not positive on the name somthing like the easy way to quit smoking... yes I have it and I have read it but sometimes you have to read it 2 or 3 times.. Anyways my sister read it 3 times and she quit she only gained maybe 3-5 lbs. She's been off cigs for about 3 years. I'll either bring the book or be sure to write down the name. The book makes so much sense, we have been brainwashed to believe that its really hard to quit, and for people that have quit its still worth the read.

I think I know what book you are talking about .. I have read "SOME" of it.. I should get it again..if you can get the name that would be great cause i am going cold turkey...I figure why prolong it .. the nic gum is ok.. cant use the patch.. and tried Zyban.. and wanted to kill my kids and husband.. and wouldnt come out of my bedroom...

I want it really bad this time .. I am tired of being sick and tired and i think its from smoking .. been smoking for about 35 years.. I did quit for 2 1/2 years once... stupid me for strarting again.. boy do I kick myself for that..

Well maybe when we get back we can do somthing like this thread, appears there are a few that have quit, we could just jump on that quitiiiiing thread. I've found this one great for losing weight, the support and ideas have been great and have helped and I plan on continuing with this after our holiday, I'm not were I want to be about 30 more or so pounds, but I know I'm on the right track.
I've tried the Zyban and went a little crazy but I did quit for 5 months and supid me at a party thought oh just one and here I am 3 years later and still at it.. I feel the same as you, sick and tired, and I am more aware of the aging thing also, this weight loss has really shown me somthings I'd rather not see, I can't get over how I've let myself go.. but I'm finally doing somthing better late than never. I'm enjoying these trips to Temptations I really want to live longer so I can keep going. I was thinking about the money also, if we quit we would be saving approx. 160 + a week.. that more than pays for a few trips to Cancun..

I applaud you all for sticking to your diets and exercise programs! I tried so hard with the diet (always exercise anyhow) and could not lose a pound, so I have given up on the diet. I only gained weight and it was not the "good weight" that they speak of. I've actually lost 6 lbs. in the last 3 weeks since I gave up on NOT eating junk!:azzangel: Not sure why this has happened, but it seems to working for me!!! I am having burgers and pizza (and salad) for dinner nightly.
This has all happened since I gave up all hope of making the April trip! But you are all going to look fabulous in your newly purchased outfits! Have a great trip!:daisy:

Ok Kim I have left this thread alone for some time(you asked remember) but I do have to jump in once I read about the smoking and increased metabolism.LoL

What actually happens is your heart rate increased as you inhale and yes in the purest sense that could be looked at as a metabolic increase but it is actually a heart stressor and is a factor in heart disease besides the crap inhaled.

Since weight is the "real" flavour of this thread what you are looking for is an increase in your VO2max. This is a technical term for areobic fitness but the higher the number the more efficent you are at burning fat.

How are you doing eith turning on those additional muscle cells?
