Rule 1. Never believe the calories burned number on any machine! Those numbers are often "off" by as much as 50% Rule 2. Don't rely on cardio to burn weight. Cardio is great exercise.......but not great for losing weight. Now........when you get up to the 8-10 mile range you are melting calories! Rule 3. Lift weights. A serious weight lifting routine will keep your metabolism up all day long. Rule 4. Any exercise is good Rule 5. Consult a personal trainer! Rules 2-4 are dependent on where you are physically and where it is you want to be.
I don't believe the calorie burn on exercice machine. But I do believe my watch I bought GPS foreRunner 210 which have a foot pod and a heart monitor. And during your trainning he's calculate everything Envoyé de mon SM-G900W8 en utilisant Tapatalk
A guys perspective: I commend each and everyone of you. I have battled weight and being fit for years. During my twenties I was 6' 4" with a fairly slim build. I did have a gut and bad love handles that I couldn't get rid of. I was very active as I played a lot of Basketball and Rugby. I used to make attempts at going to the gym, but had a hard time holding the motivation for more than a couple months. This life style continued throughout my thirties. Didn't play Rugby after 34, but still continue to play Basketball a couple times a week. I believe I was 42 or so that I finally got fed up and hired a trainer. I really couldn't afford it at the time, but I'm so glad I did. I'm now 50 and I am in as good of shape as I have ever been. My main issue was always cheating, not going to the gym because no one helped me be accountable. I am a responsible person and by having a fixed appointment with my trainer it has allowed me to be accountable to him and myself. No cheating. He pushes me to lift and do other exercises that I would never do on my own. I pretty much eat what I want most of the time, but I have really reduced my portions and try to eat at least 5 times a day. I take in at least 180 grams of protein most days of the week. Protein shakes and/ or food high in protein. Water, water, water. Weight loss and fitness shouldn't be just something you do to get ready for a vacation. Its a lifestyle that takes a lot of effort to maintain. Once you find what works for you, stick with it. You wont regret it.
I hear you on the motivation thing. I want to be and stay in shape. Not just for vac. but it seems as if it does help a lot. Ive always eaten pretty clean, except for the pizza and pastas with the white sauces!! yum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went through a period lately of depression. life. but im done feeling sorry for myself. last may I quit smoking, but put on the pounds. so, time to get me back!! not easy, but so worth it. food has been modified a lot. after awhile I will see if I can incorporate a cheat meal, and still continue to lose. I see a lot of people on here sticking to it and reaching their goals or being very close. way to go all of you. I should post some before pics and then some during progress, but chicken. so well heres to being productive on the road to health!
I totally agree that vacation is a great motivation. I try to kick it up a notch before going as well. Unfortunately most of us cant vacation 12 months of the year so other types of motivation are needed when were not in TTR mode.
I think this is a great motivation posting and reading on this forum, everyone hang in there and keep up the good work! Today was weigh in day Shane down 2 pounds, I maintained, so maybe next week I'll be down. And yes he is walking between 5 to 7 miles a day and lifting 4 times a week, I am doing 1 hr. on elliptical a day and lift 2 days a week.
Women working out regularly and not losing weight might want to have their testosterone levels checked.
Well up one lb after a shitty few days of eating. I am getting back on track today. It's crunch time.
