feelin better now and just gonna start back in slower but knowing me that will last oooo.... I'd say a day or 2. Go big or go home. I got make up work to do! LOL I had been doing dumbbell shoulder press and tried upping my weight and reps. I had felt fine while doing them and even after it. But slowly as the day progressed any movement/lifting started to "tighten" a muscle in my back stretching all the way up to the base of my skull to where I couldn't turn my head. Lifting with right arm was pretty much non existent.
sounds fairly close to what was happening to me..plus server headaches every morning.. i saw a chiropractor steady for a quite a few weeks and got a couple massages (deep tissue) which is what made it feel the best afterwards, the chiropractor could not figure out what was going on other than a weak link (spot).. so i have to be very careful not to get to heavy with weights over my head.. or my back will tighten up and make my head pound... aslo not sure if you are doing this but .. no tense holding and or shrugging in your shoulders and neck..... when your lifting weights..try to relax and push your shoulders and shoulder blades down and back.. this is what worked for me .. i was carrying my shoulders and neck in a tensed up position all the time.. try to take note of that. i could bicep curl till the cow come home but lift that up over my head.. forget it.. i would be down for the count... head pounding and back and neck hurting so bad i couldn't move it.. i had to go to a lighter weight for anything like that untill whatever part it was got stronger.. and I still have to be careful.. got a bit of a stiff neck this morning from yesterday..
Didn't go to the gym yesterday... Got a tattoo instead... Went this morning, and i'm up 2lbs... But I'm not that concerned since we ate like crap on sunday, and I didn't eat GREAT yesterday (Had to pound a sugary soda & candybar for the tattoo)... Did a light and easy 25 mins on the bike this morning... wasn't feeling my workout... And now I think i'm gonna fall asleep at my desk...
Didn't make it to the gym yesterday as planned, thanks to the impromptu tattoo session. But I did get back on track with an hour of Zumba and 45 mins of mixed weights and cardio this morning... Set my alarm for 4am tomorrow, so hopefully I'll be up by 5 to sneak in more workout time before work. And then I think we have an appointment with our new, hopefully less goobery, personal trainer.
Ah hah so thats whats going on.. I'm off for a massage Thursday, the pain in my upper back and left shoulder is just killing me... like almost crying pain, headaches, almost feel like puking, but as quick as it comes it leaves.. So hears hoping the massage will help out. shit I'm not even working out as hard as you guys and I'm already a mess.
Deb, I didnt know you were having issues too.. this all happend when I first started doing weights, I believe that once I got stong enough it worked its self out and I still have to be careful.. so.. dont do anything over your head for a few days Like, 4 or 5 days..get a deep tissue massage, you can do all the rest of your workout just baby your neck and back after that.. go to a lighter weight and work your way up slowly..the best way I can explain it for me is.. I hold(carry) the muscels in my neck and shoulders tight (TENSE) but you need to before you lift make sure you have that part relaxed and you shoulder baldes pushed donw (no shrugging) I hope that makes sense.. lol :xyxthumbs:
All this time I thought it was because of my office desk/chair.. but found when doing the weights over the head it has increased the pain.. Ah yes like you I normally walk through life with my shoulders up past my ears.. well try to. both jeff and I are trying to pay attention to this and really try to relax them. He's been having horrible issues with his shoulders also.. work related. It really amazes me how tense my shoulders are all the time.
well I call it (UNLOCKED) lol.. it really takes practice at keeping them relaxed and unlocked and pushed down. thats teh goal.. but the massage makes it feel better and HEAT!! I bought a magic bag.. from costco.. you heat it in the microwave.. its fantastic..
LOL yes we have the magic bag, heating pads, and a heating pad that straps on your shoulder...honestly the more I think about...LOL I feel old.. A535 heating pads everywhere... As I just went out for a smoke had a big stretch shoulders and back.. almost blacked out and instant headache by the time I got back headache gone. That massage can't come soon enough.
