hey as long as your having fun, just do it!! i know i would feel funny at first doing zumba, but i love to dance, so that would rule out the feeling stupid for me. my daughter inlaw was into it about a year ago, and got amazing results out of it!!! very good workout! i wish my gym had it during hours i could make it.

Its not that it isn't fun... I just can't get going ...I know don't think about it... I just can't help it.
And I love to dance but only when I'm half pissed or totally pissed... don't think I've ever danced sober in my life. So getting 1/2 pissed before a work out just defeats the whole idea NO?

hahah i can totally understand! I've been doing Zumba for quite a few years now and sometimes with new routines I have to stop and just crack up. lol. Ever seen that picture circulating on facebook? I'll see if I can find it! lol.

Taking yesterday off was a great suggestion! Thank you all! I woke up early this morning. I did one hour of Zumba and then about 300 calories on the elliptical on a high resistance. I felt like I was pushing through mud, lol.

    Heres a few, lol:

ok HammieJ I didn't wanna quote you cuz between you and I and our responses we have wrote the war and peace novel 2 times over! LOL

When you are working out you need to push through pain but no one knows your body like you do. If you need a break, take it. Nothing is worth an injury!

Please don't take this the wrong way because any progress is good and you're doming amazing but if you would like to make it better and faster.... you are doing WAY TO MANY REPS! After 30reps it is all just and endurance thing. Your mind will trick your body by feeling the pain but you are actually burning up your muscles at that point. Look at long distance runners notice how long and lean their muscles are? After a miles or 2 I guarantee they feel the burn but they keep pushing. Sprinter are also VERY lean but the muscles aren't as long, This is because they use several different muscles groups in strength development and change their workout regiment so they don't plateau. However if you only work one muscle group then that one looks like it is the incredible hulk popping out of your body cuz the body has virtually eaten away the content of the other muscles trying to compensate for the loss of protein.

My suggestion, take it or leave it, is vary your workout. You are headed in the right path in working different parts of your body but think of this. Your stomach/abs have 9 different major muscle groups. I say group because when you think of abs most people think of the "6 pack" (rectus abdominus) that group actually has an "8pack" if properly exercised, and that is just 1 muscle group. When you are doing your crunches you are only working the top 1 set and the 2nd very little. The shorter the crunch the shorter the muscles. The lower/deeper you bring your legs from horizontal while doing exercises the lower you work your abs. Lay on a weight bench with your legs off the bench. lower them to as low as you can and throw them up to just shy of vertical. that is killer!!!

Without sounding like a rep for p90x, the ab ripper x workout is phenomenal. Here is the youtube video of it. This works every major muscle group in the abs. The video isn't the best but it does give the whole workout and a pretty good idea of what to do.

Next, you said you are a squat lover. If you are lifting your body weight that many time you will get bigger thighs. Also squatting all the way to the floor is not good for your knees. You may be able to do it but you are pushing ligament past were they should be and the muscles have to compensate for the loss in elasticity which could lead to a muscle tear or ligament damage. Try mixing up your squats with lunges and hops. Look up Plyometrics(jump training) it is VERY good cardio and also works the legs like no other!

Your nutrition class will pay off in dividends! remember though that the Vitamin water is ONLY for recovery!!!! do not drink that regularly unless you are EXTREMELY ACTIVE(like an athlete). Pick your most active workout session and do the recovery drink directly after or even during it. It will take your body roughly 1 hr to process it when active and 2-4 hrs if non active.

The big reason for this, your body just burt all that sugar and fat and is trying to process it. If you introduce more at the wrong time it overloads and the workout was all for waste. Your recovery amounts should be SMALL, as little fat as possible, little calories, high in vitamins, high in protien and high in fiber..... and then replenish for the next few hrs with as much water as possible.

My recovery is usually a few of the following suggestions
    1. 1 rice cake with low fat peanut butter & 12oz of G2 & 20oz water
    2. 1 apple, 12oz vitamin water & 20oz water
    3. a palm full(flat) of mixed nuts and 40oz water
    4. 1 orange, 2 eggs scrammbled(or fried but using olive oil) 40oz of water

    Just general suggestions.

Thanks again!! you are very helpful! My son's father has p90x. I'll just use his. He stopped doing it because he was losing too much weight. He's 138lbs, 5'11 and wanted to bulk up. He got down to 130 and decided to stop. lol.

I don't mind losing so much haha :) Good to know about the reps and stuff. You are a wealth of information! I can't promise that I will follow your suggestion word by word but I will do my best!

I do drink vitamin water all the time :/ I just get bored with water. I drink vitamin water way faster so I just feel like I drink more water that way. I figure it's better than having a sprite or pepsi from the vending machine at school.

As far as my abs..... my crunches work my top two, my reverse crunches work my bottom two immensely, and my side to side work my obliques and possibly my lower abs? not sure. I try to focus on my lower abs the most because Zumba has given me my tops ones almost..... but having a baby has damaged my lower tummy obviously. I will look into various exercises as well as the p90x! :)

thanks! I will also take my updated measurements! Although I have gained weight everyone is noticing my work! :) Feels good! lol.

    Thank you again and again!

the picture you posted earlier are evidence of the work you are doing! Keep up the good work and remember any type of workout is better than sitting on your duff.

If you are looking for a substitute for just plain ol water. Crystal Light makes flavored water packets that pour right into a 16oz water bottle and have only 10calories and no sugars.
