I recommend augmenting exercise with cheating, Denise! Back in April on this thread I posted about the detox body wrap I had done with amazing results. It removes the toxins from between your cells to get rid of bloating and other bad stuff like cellulite. It does NOT remove water weight like some wraps that have only a temporary effect until you start drinking fluids again. I lost 13" from neck to ankles after the 3-hour wrap, and 2 weeks after returning from TTR I had continued to tighten up so much that my pants were falling off. Couldn't believe it. Last time I looked, the nearest place for Calgarians to get one was Stony Plain...not sure how long a drive that is for you. I'm away from my home computer, but I can PM you the link if you want it. Going back for another wrap before my September trip, as I fell off the salad wagon after the April trip and put the weight back on. Grrr
Denise Match+ahalfs advice is a great idea to catch up and get you jump started. That and diet will be big strides in getting you were you want to be. It's also great you spoke to your doctor and have the perimeters you can work within. If I haven't worked out in awhile, I always start light and work on routine. Form over function! Start with your cardio and get comfortable. With the weights look up some new exercises and start with a weight so light it does not feel like you are even working out. This will help you master your form, then as you are comfortable and feel good up the weight a little bit. Your muscle memory will be started, your body will be comfortable and you will start to progress at the pace your body is ready for. Try not to overdo it. A set back by pushing yourself to hard will be exactly that, a set back. We always want to move forward, never back.
Thanks for the advice all. I'm off to the gym this Wednesday for some very light weight lifting and cardio. I'm looking forward to just doing something again. I'll give an update in a couple months. Cheers
Got in the gym tonight for the first time in 3 months. Also started eating properly today. Both sucked, however I know it will get easier as it continues.
you guys are funny! How come I had to work hard all summer to get to my goal and you guys got to slack off! I'm super jealous!
I have been carrying the torch with you. Being good is so much harder (and a lot less fun) than being bad.
I got to slack off because I went to TTR in May. November to May was serious training, then I enjoyed the fruits of my labor from after the trip until now. I dont look as out of shape as I feal, and there were certainly large losses in the gym. I am now training for the CPAT, as I am waiting to get called for the Fire Department and need to be in top form...which I am not. Therefore....Stairs Stairs Stairs Stairs Strairs And every between every 2 sets 5 minutes of cardio
Well good luck with that! I'm sure you'll be able to make it! I hope you know my message wasn't just about your posts and I meant no harm in it. I've just been busting my butt to look better, down 14 pounds, two more to go with two weeks to go. And really all I want is a drink and burger!
I didn't take it as a personal jab, I was putting myself along in the boat of that group though. The first day back in is certainly the hardest for me. With two weeks to go just push yourself along and get to where you can. Wherever that is be happy with your progress and accomplishments. Then when you get back just remember all the hard work to keep you encouraged. Or take a few months off, kick yourself in the ass and get back to it.
