Well the scale and I are still getting along. I am working hard to make it and I still have two weeks to make the changes. Did I tell you I work better under stress. I made my packing list and made an appointment to get the damm brazillian done and nails. K I am ready to party but holding off on the booze for two weeks anyways. I am gonna make this last 2 lbs disappear and maybe have a little extra as lee way. My new dresses should get here soon too. I can't wait too try them on too. I already have 13 dresses on my packing list. Decisions. I want to wear them all.

went to the gym this morning after being sick, still not 100% but I went anyways. my trainer took one look and said.. oh.. we should just really take it easy today.. ahaha ... good thing cause her easy almost killed me .. ahah! ;) happy I went though.

do we have any runners/joggers on this thread.. i have decided that now that i am not smoking I would like to run.. or jog.. not sure what to call it, I guess jog cause I dont want to run full out, I want to jog for longer ..

I started last night on the treadmill with 5 minute walk or warm up and then 1 minute walk, 3 minute jog at a treadmill speed of 4 at the run.. 3 on the walk.. and did it for 25 minutes..I really have no idea if that is good or wimpy, haha but, I have been a smoker for a long long time so to me .. 3 minute nonstop was fabulous.. lol would love to have some ideas on how to bring that up.. do I add a minute every week untill I can do like 30 minutes at a time or??? should I run every day? help!!! ;)

Kim, be careful with the running. Ease into it slowly, or you will end up with shinsplints....very painful. Running (or even jogging) in your 40's is really hard on your joints, so it's best not to make running the major part of your exercise regime. I used to run competitively, so I know a little bit about this. I don't run at all anymore due to a back problem. Instead, I crank the treadmill up to a 12 incline and power walk...very good for your tush, but watch your posture. Or I use the Stairmaster that is like an escalator. Zero impact but a tough workout, because it's like climbing stairs.

Glad you are feeling well enough now to hit the gym. :)

Thanks Karen, I dont really think that it will be a huge part of my workout and I dont really have to do it at all..lol, I know how to get a great workout with a power walk like what you have said.. and I wondered if I was perhaps past the age of starting this. I am not even sure why I want to, just never could being a smoke most of my life.. lol

I used to run 5 km every other day. I started with 1 min on 1 min off runs and increased it over about six months. Once you can run 8 minutes straight you can usually run 20 minutes. Doing intervals will increase your hearts ability to hold at a higher rate. When I used to run I could maintain a heart rate of 167 without at problem. Go slow also use your threadmill to train your feet too. Walking sideways and backwards on the threadmill trains your feet and gait. Also lunges on the threadmill are great too just be careful. Otherwise the threadmill will use mainly quads more than hamstrings. Walk like that with it on slow 1.2mph with an incline and only for about maybe 5 or ten minutes each time. Running outside is way harder on the body than the threadmill too. I suffered with shin splints something terrible especially at the beginning of spring until my body got used to the runs again. I have to tell you if my back and my knee wasn't screwed right now I would be running. I miss it so much. I used to love lapping the pools in cancun in the mornings. Take it slow and if the knees start to hurt back off. Don't run everyday, it's hard on the body.
