The only "scam" you have to worry about is the time share pitch. They will tell you something about showing you around the resort and to schedule for the next morning. This is really a time share pitch and you should try to avoid. They might avoid you if you are both single...
On our four trips to TTR, we have been scammed several times. It always seems to be the same thing, the maid steals the 50 pesos we leave on the bed, and then she rubs it in our face by putting extra beers in the fridge for us.
I always have a nice amount of cash, passports, etc in the safe at TTR and never had a issue...on are last trip the safe code somehow got messed up (by me) and I called the front desk, they sent a maintenance guy, he fixed it then when it was time for me to put my code back in he left the room then came back in when I was done and asked me if it was working..
Have you been reading Tripadvisor??? Their reviews stir up too much controversy on this site. We have never had any problems!!
We actually left the safe open by mistake on more than one occasion and cleaning staff was kind enough to close it for us. Nothing missing and everything was fine.
As first timers due to travel in a couple of weeks this is very reassuring (although I am British and tipping is therefore quite alien to me?!?) I'll do my best to remember to carry cash around!!!!
chamber maid does a great job, We usually left $5 a day for her. always had plenty of bottled water and towels
That's good to hear but would they not do that anyway?!?! With chambermaids and bar staff and waiters, seems like a lot of money is gonna be spent on thanking people this holiday!!!!!
WE HAVE BEEN 16 TIMES MET 200+ PEOPLE EACH TRIP ANOTHER 2000 ON CCC AND NOT ONE ISSUE EVER MENTIONED!:huepfen021: THAT SAID MY BEST FRIENDS HAD THERE WHOLE SAFE STOLEN AT THE RUI CARIBE CANCUN THE NEXT YEAR AT THE VALINTINE IN THE MAYAN $ 800 MISSING FROM A LOCKED SAFE.
