This past April, we landed at 6am and went to Desire RM and checked in without a hitch. I should have taken a bar of Irish Spring and jumped in the pool that morning.. LOL

I love the red eye. It allows us to get to the resort early and have fun right away without losing a day in travel. We are landing at 6:30 a.m. and hope to be there to the resort by 8 would be perfect for breakfast. I have never checked in this early though. In October we got there at 9 a.m. and they gave us a bracelet right away and held our luggage until the room was ready. We keep our swimsuits handy. Luckily they don't take too too much room in the carry-on

    First Day Curse....

OK.. Imagine that you've landed in your dreams.... you walk out in the sunshine and you are surrounded by basically a college frat party for adults.... people partying, open bar, lots of eye candy, cool water to hang out in, friendly people everywhere, rounds of shots every time a new couple arrives, you are talking a lot, rounds of shots every time a new couple arrives.. did I mention the open bar? Without thinking about you end up consuming more alcohol in one day than you have in the past month. So you go to take a nap before dinner and wake up the next morning.. :)

Happens to everyone, even veterans now and then... I remember one year Chris and I were sitting in one of the "hot tubs" in the pool with a couple of couples we knew from before. We were just sitting there chatting, catching up. Abiel was delivering drinks on roller blades so we basically didn't have to more for about 3 hours... we decided it was time to get ready for dinner... stood up... and sat right back done again... looked at each other and when Whoa!

Don't worry though.... either way, suffer or not, you have a great first day! :)

Wow! Needed to read the "First Day Curse" rule before our last few trips to Punta Cana! Between the Germans and Canadians, we have missed dinner every first night!!!! Too drunk to ever put a name to it though, now we know! Thanks!!!

We have a related question. We are taking our first trip and staying two nights (18-20 may) before heading to another resort. What’s the latest we can leave by if we are enjoying ourselves too much?! Is there a place we can store our bags for the afternoon?
