If you're looking for a good cheap meal try Bewley's Cafe on O'Connell Street rigth at the entrance to the Temple Bar area. It's cafeteria style but they good food at very reasonable prices. Nothing fancy but if you're not loking to spend mych onmals this is a good place. I still think they have one of th best BLT's I've ever had...I think it was the irish bacon.
Guinness tour is superb!!! Well worth it, wasn't too thrilled with the Jameson's tour but whiskey aint my bag... I tell you what is very good takes about a 1hr but we did the Tour of Croke Park where Ireland are currently using for the home soccer games but mainly used to Gaelic games, very impressive stadium... There's loads of really good bars in Dublin but prepared to pay between £3.50 - £4.50 depending on where you go.... Big favourite of mine is Buskers Bar in Temple Bar area, great during the day for a bite to eat and watch the footy and buzzing at nite gets rammer in here... Another good one is Bruxelles which has 2 floors. If its a traditions Irish boozer you want these are superb The Temple Bar, The Brazen Head or the Auld Dubliner.... There's literary tons of boozers in Dublin and after a full day frequenting as many as you can you kinda forget the names but there's a few to shake a stick at least... Heres a little tip for you, there's a shuttle bus to the city from the airport (Airlink) if I remember right its every 15 or 30mins round the clock anyway go to the news stand in the airport by doors as you leave get yourself a 3 day rambler ticket this includes the Airlink. The rambler will cover your two trips to the airport alone on Airlink. It offers you the freedom to hop on/hop off any Dublin bus, on any route. Costs about €14 so good to use for the Guinness Storehouse etc... We used this and it proved well cheap for getting about as well as too and from the airport (bearing in mind a taxi €25-€30 each way), even tho like you we flew sat morning to come back Sunday night... You will have a great time in Dublin without doubt, there hospitality is right up there with Cancun IMO... Hope this proves helpful, but for now I'll stop rambling on
I agree! I've been there 4 or 5 times and once totally on my own and found the people to be just wonderful. My trips to Ireland are truly some of the best trips I have ever taken. Lots to see and do for sure. The Literary Pub Crawls and the Musical Pub crawls might sound kind of lame but they really aren't. A good time with good entertainemnt. I met soem very nice people on those tours and found some pubs I might not have gone into otherwise.
So true Karan, I've travelling my way around Europe and yet my favorite City is literary a 45min plane ride away... The Irish are fantastic and make it for me the BEST CITY in Europe
Please do!!!! Dublin is one of my all time favorite cities. I'd love to see some pics. If you need any shopping tips, feel free to ask, LOL.
