RE Jamaica,, on the bus to the resort I had a six pack of beer and others were already smoking weed on the bus ,, Jamaica is special,, one of the nicer places to go , to bad it's going to pot.
Jamaica Agree with Donald 100% !!! My wife gets Drug tested at work so she really doesn't care for folks lighting up on the shuttle buses. On South Negril beach its not just Pot, but Coke, Crack, Meth. There is also some Mushroom they push a lot !!! LOL ! Never figured that out myself.
We don't indulge in anything besides ourselves and alcohol on our trips but after 9 years to Jamaica I would caution anyone about buying from people at the airport. It is a well known toursit shakedown place for the local PD. Most of the bus drivers will make a "pit stop" if you ask them to and it is readily had. I have been offered cocaine, ecstasy, heroin, lsd, and a few others in addition to regular offers of sale of weed- no thanks! usually works. Cheers! Not a good idea EVER when on vacation in a foreign country. Last thing I want to wake up to is stitches where my kidneys should be.
Just FYI, drugs for "personal use" have not been illegal in Mexico for many years. This means the user is ok. They are focusing on catching the big time sellers and cartels. So things like small amounts of weed, coke etc that would be illegal in the US dont matter in Mexico. I would assume you'd still get shaken down by the cops for a bribe. TTR still posts anyone caught using drugs will be removed, they must really mean it cause i.ve never smelt the stuff on the resort.
I don't know why anyone would risk it. Even the remotest possibility of jail is frightening enough to me. Everyone knows it's wrong and the possibility of things going sideways is too great. Buyer beware.. Any repercussions would not seem surprising to me.
Anyone ever watch the show on A&E I believe thats the channel it's on? Anyway it's called Locked-Up- Abroad will make anyone think twice about illegal activities in a foreign country.
