Quick Question. What are the laws in Cancun about drinking in public? I know that if you are acting stupid while walking down the street with a beer, you will probably get into trouble. Is it acceptable to have a drink while walking from lunch back to your hotel??
I think it's illegal, but they let tourists get away with it...the way they do with many other things here.
Open container is not legal but they never say anything to tourists. Even as a tourist I wouldn't try it downtown though. And don't try it int he hotel zone if you're with an employee from your resort...because something will be said to them about it.
A ton of people walked onto the buses and off of them with drinks in their hands when i was down there and no one ever said anything.
