Kudos to you Jason. There are not many people willing to donate as you might can tell by the number of people on waiting lists for transplant. Speaking from experience, I had a Kidney transplant May '94, it is much easier on the donor than the recipient. Mom was my donor and she was out of the hospital in 5 days and I was out 4 days later.

terrible news jason, sorry to hear about it.

everyone should be on the bone marrow registry if they can. i've been on for almost 15 years now. i registered when they were looking for a match for my cousins husband. the matching process is so difficult. in some cases you have to be a perfect match, and in others you can be a partial match depending on the illness and the health of the person.

best of luck finding a match and hope all goes well.
