Our first trip last year we started out being very cautious and only drank bottled water. After a few days we ended up throwing caution to the wind and were drinking the water at the eateries. We experienced no problems and wouldn't hesitate to drink it again.

Far as we could tell it's made at the resort. When we first went to TTR we were "water-paranoid" as well, we had never travelled outside of Canada\USA before and heard horror stories. We did not drink the tap water, but did use it to brush our teeth and shower. We also said we would ask for drinks without ice when we went to be "extra safe" but about 15seconds into the trip forgot entirely about that. We did not get sick at all and frankly almost all of the drinks are made with crushed ice or cubes so it would be a pain to get them without, although I'm sure you could if you asked nicely.

What we DID do however was get our Twinrix shots before we went, it covers Hep A and B, which can be transmitted via many different ways abroad (and at home as well). I am NOT alergic to anything in this known universe...except the twinrix shot I found out. I got it about 2 months before we went and for 4 days I thought I was going to die. Throwing up, shivering, hell the hair on my arms literally HURT. After I got over it I was almost sure the shot was worse than hepititis itself! :elizabeth:

I'm not sure how phobic to be... but damn, was I sick last year! Lost 10 pounds... but not the way to do it.

Thanks Northern Couple - crappy to get so sick off of something you're doing to AVOID being sick. We've both gotten the Twinrix shots, and no terrible reactions here, thank goodness!
