Do you have to listen to the timeshare speech or no?

Min 90 minutes, but, in true "sell me something I dont need" fashion, they want to stretch it out as long as it takes to get you to capitulate. I only stayed the 90 minutes, but was always leary of whether they would credit the referral or not. So far, they always have.
Unless its changed drastically, doing a 90 minute countdown means nothing to them. They hear nothing you say while they are doodling numbers at light speed, hoping it will confuse you and you'll give up and say ....."OK I GIVE!! TAKE MY MONEY, PLUS INTEREST!!" hahaha

Apparently it works on some people.

We have done the presentation in the past with the plan of getting the best deal and comparing to prices I pay on discount sites. Took a couple hours. This time I am not staying past when I have to. Whatever deal I have at 90 mins will what I compare. But I don't expect it to beat my prices just like it never has in the past sadly. Believe me I want it to be competitive.

 

If you get the right person you can basically skip the breakfast and get right to the numbers stuff (unless there is a room type or a facility you want to specifically see).

Kyle in your case if you already have some numbers, print some stuff out ahead of time to show them you are prepared. I was just like, "lets get right to business cause I know how this works and if these numbers all make logical sense to me at the lowest possible plan your offering (then later I asked what it will cost to move up to the next levels from that base point), this will be an easy sell OR a quicker walk away so you can get to someone you might actually be able to convince." We basically did that, as soon as I was introduced to the rep. I was in and out (and bought) within an hour or so. I think it also really helped because at that time our rep and the manager were both from the states, so there wasn't any language problems.

A few weeks back I went (voluntary) cause I wanted to see some new room types, and see what numbers they were offering now on paper. This lasted about 45 total minutes and I wasn't interested at changing my contract with what they were offering. It was short and pressure free because I wasn't obligated to go. And once again the rep understood where I was coming from right from the start.

 

Yeah very valid points for sure. Just hard to sell a car before the potential buyer gets a test drive. Because I am sure there are no refunds after you swipe the card!

I may be wrong...but I believe there actually is a 3 day buyer's remorse period where you can back out. I brought a large group to TTR and one of the coupes that bought backed out, although I don't know the details and don't know if they lost any money.

 

We went on a referral the last week, before closure. No paperwork to sign, in and out, in about an hour. We skipped breakfast and the tour. Met them in their sales office. The owner got the $250. Not sure of now. Might be more difficult to skip the tour now.

 

Question, we want to do the early check and we plan on skipping the timeshare presentation. Will this make rejecting their presentation any more of a pain, i.e. will they be waiting for me, more prepared than normal because they know when I am coming? Anyone have any issues doing this?

 

I guess the bottom line for me is, I would rather pay the $250 back to the referral guy, then waste 5 hours as someone else stated they spent.
