absolutly true... One solution is an RFID blocking wallet, another believe it or not is to wrap your card in a piece of tinfoil. both will block "Skimmers" from being able to read a card. In regards to your bank covering it, yes to a point. They will ask you if you've ever lent/given your card and or pin to anyone (spouse, friend whatever) to use. If you answer yes, they are off the hook no matter who or when it was. So if it ever happens to you make sure you reply emphatically NO, as this is a breach to the Debit/Credit card application which we all sign without reading thoroughly.
I've noticed that many credit cards are offering "fraud insurance" now. Their way of getting out of covering fraudulent charges if you don't pay the extra $$$
I be-leave your referring to Identity theft insurance. you have 45 days to contest any charges on your cc. its on the onus of the merchant to provide a signature or contract of some sort
