Thanks everyone for the responses. My husband was hesitant about booking the trip because I really have this horrible barf phobia.....sounds stupid to most people....wish I could get over it....but it is what it is.
Barf I think you should be fine, ive seen many many drunks, seen people fall down by pool a lot, but i personally do not remember seeing someone throwing up around the pool or the resort for that matter, ive been there going on nine trips, so im sure it has happened , just not enough to penetrate my drunken haze of a memory haha...Go enjoy yourself , you'll regret reading all these fun posts if you dont go.
Thank you! I am so excited to go. I have read every single review, post and blog about Temptation.....I am sooo on count down. I think it is really cool that all of you "regulars" stay in touch and really know eachother too. Since you have been there 9 times.....let me ask you about tipping....I obviously want to tip, but what is the norm for the bartenders, the maids and everyone else? Thanks again for your input!
Tips Yes these people you meet both on this board on at Temptations are what vacations are all about, they make for great times and keep you looking forward to seeing them again or meeting them for the first time, this board has been great to me for years now. As far as Tipping goes, I think you will get a different answer from a lot of people, I personally bring with me a bunch of US ones and Fives and a some tens just for tipping, with the maid I few dollars each day as your maid will bring you what ever you want and fill your fridge how you would if you are good to her, i.e. im not a big tomatoe drink drinker, so she subs in more beer lol. . I also find my bartenders, and to me the bartenders are the second biggest thing on my vacations, next to the people you meet or go with, the bartenders will make you trip so so much better if you get to know them, talk to them, Tip them, I always try to tip each bartender at the bars a few dollars each day..... bottom line for me is I do not have a million dollars, so i am not able to bring a ton of extra just for tip, so i tip the maids and the barteders a few dollars each day , Ill tip the waiters at the restaurants, then what i do is at the end of my trip Ill see who I remember the most, i.e Pablo at the sports bar, Javier at the sexy , just for an example , and I give them a bit more. Just my theories, like i said you may get a ton of different answers on here.... If i could give the employees down there a ton of money i would, the bartenders and the service staff have always made my trip SO much better. Lots of people forget about them or just shout out their drink orders and wait , if you talk to everyone, you will be amazed how good they can make your trip....sorry to write a book lol
Don't worry about the "book"....I am taking in everything. I think that I like your idea about giving something each day and then at the end....remembering the people that stood out. Do you give per drink, upfront, or at the end of their shift/day? Sorry to ask so many questions....hope I am not burning up your time. I read all over that the beds are pretty bad....what do you think?
I think it is always to busy to tip per drink, I personally like them to see that i put money in, so if it not that busy ill drop money in the cup, if its busy Ill always give them a tip ahead of time.... A. cuz that way it doesnt go unknown and B. If you tip your bartenders, you will be amazed how well they remember and if it gets busy you will get your drink a lot faster then someone just shouting orders, these guys and gals are truly amazing they will remember you year after year, not just for your tips, but if you talk to them...I was amazed on my second trip, when johnny said hey jimmy welcome back...amazing after being gone a year and the million people that go through that place...So I would tip ahead, and then look for the mid day shift change or something so not to miss someone... As far as the beds, I personally like them, I have also heard complaints, i guess it depends on whats good for you and your body, me I have a bit of a bad back, so the beds being a bit hard is good for me, but some may hate them, as with anything else about this resort, some are going to love things and some are going to hate things....but all that aside if you read what folks on here who have been going for years and years have to say, they have been on here since 2003 and 2004 and so on , always good advice and good people, the site owner steve is very helpful with any info you may need too....you can ask as many questions as you would like, thats what were here for
Thanks again for the info! I am sure I will have more questions...and will be sure to ask! Have a wonderful holiday and maybe we will see you at Temptation!
Seen lots of things at TTR but not anyone puke in the pool!!! Had a girl pass out as me and a friend were walking up to get drinks. She went face first and was out!! Doug and I pulled her to the steps and Security took her to her room.
