I, Scott, never have had a problem being first...and I think some people wish I just didn't wear what I have been known to wear, lol.

Public service announcement on safety: Guys were never really meant to pole dance; "things" can get "compressed" against the pole

$Parkie (Dawn) brings up a good point about many people not being on Cancuncare, so they have no idea about themes. Some haven't even been on the resort's page, so they're completely in the dark. Others just don't get into that sort of thing.

You'll always find highest participation on themes that don't require much planning(even people who never found the info online tend to have some lingerie or something white with them for vacation).

The more elaborate your theme, the more you're going to get only the hardcore s to participate. Tutus and pirate hats take lots of luggage space, so some people just won't commit.

But the thing that really grinds my gears is that some groups are intentionally going against the resort and CCC themes--showing up all in black for white night, for example. I guess it's a great way of bonding with your own group, but the immediate impact is that Paty O's breaks into small cliques instead of one big, happy family.

I love when groups add on to the resort themes, though, like the June Junkies. For example, we brought hundreds of glow sticks to make white/glow night.

A good point - that happened one night. The resort theme was animals, but the group decided they wanted cowboys. We split the difference - the leopard catsuit and safari hunter riding an ostrich :)

But yes - picking a theme that isn't related to the resort theme is counterproductive. I also think that the color themes alone (red night, white night) are a little lame. For red night, we went schoolgirl (red plaid) and school nerd (red nerd T). Even still, you'd think everyone could toss on a red or white shirt (or dress), but not so.

I dress in theme every night. I just choose my own theme of 'hot and slutty'. With the exception of lingerie night we just don't particularily find the other themes sexy or interesting so I wear what turns me and my husband on.
We are swingers so admitedly we are trying to be sexy and find other sexy people so, FOR US, the sometimes silly costumes aren't really our thing. So we would prefer that everyone just dress 'hot and slutty' but hey...you can dress however you want. But, so can we.

You were about 2 weeks too late. Hotties and Hellraisers (Halloween) has huge theme night participation. May is another great time, especially second week.

Thinking Men's shirt, one button rule no bottoms is kinda Hot & Slutty, and some of the school girl skirts are pretty nonexistent.

Good point. We're not in the lifestyle, so for us it's more about the fun and having a good conversation starter. (However, we prefer slutty themes. We've had "porn star night" and even had an "assless" night a few years ago! )

Maybe I have weird taste, too, but I find a guy with the confidence and sense of humor to show up in an inflatable ostrich (or any over-the-top goofy outfit) to be the sexiest guy there. True story.

What this drives home for me, though, is how much your outfits can determine the course of your vacation. If you want to find a group to hang out with, showing up in theme wear communicates that really fast. If you wear a goofy outfit, you're going to get noticed and other goofballs will be drawn to you, but maybe some more conservative types will shy away. Some people are observers and others are "doers," and our outfits help us find our "tribe" while we're there.
