Thanks! That is awesome! Congrats on your weight loss!!! I'm about 7 weeks in and I've lost about 15 pounds now and a ton on inches. I'm not fit enough nor motivated enough for cross fit but that is on my list to do at some point. I just started using a weighted hula hoop and its so FUN...doesn't feel like i'm "working out". That is the point at least for me. Rock on girl! Christy
Wt off So how do you diet while at Temtation Isn't that hard to do? I know I will gain while there . I look at food or smell it and gain weight. Any suggestions out there?
My thoughts I thought that was the purpose of vacation!!! No body knows you and nobody gives a shit what you drink and eat!! Or what size you are, I thought this was a nonjudgmental atmosphere!
Three years ago when I went to the doctor I realized I had gotten overweight (as I didn't own a scale for YEARS). I promptly went on a two week detox diet (no alcohol, sugar, dairy, caffeine (except for morning coffee), most carbs and starches. I lost about 8 lbs during that time. When I began to incorporate foods back I realized I couldn't eat gluten (wheat) and have gluten intolerance. With the change in diet and exercising 5x a week I lost 35lbs in about 6 months the healthy way and have mostly kept it off all this time. I'm noticing a lot of folks getting all nervous about having some extra weight at TTR. While I too have amped up my exercise recently in preparation for our trip I'm also not gonna get all crazy and will probably carry with me some extra curviness to TTR in 3 weeks. I'm comfortable with myself and I think most men like a bit of curves. (I'm just concerned about my own man really...) See ya'll at the pools curves n all!
I have been paleo for about 10 months and I have lost 40-45 lbs. the best part is ( besides the weight loss ) is that I feel GREAT. Granted I get sick every time I eat something I shouldn't ( dairy, grains/gluten, or soy ) so that helps me stay on track. I don't think Paleo is a "diet" but more of a lifestyle. It is truly based on eating the foods that our bodies were designed to eat. Good luck Trish with your journey- it does get easier the longer you do it!
I am 62 years old and have had type II diabetes for EXACTLY 20 years. I am 6'1" and weigh 230 lbs. Have tried every diet known to man, got down to 210 back in 2011 and it basically took walking 5 miles each day and eating only tuna fish. If I had my time to go over again, I would either get a lap band or a mini Gastric bypass (very cheap in Cancun). The Bypass actually cures type II about 85% of the time. If you have or (about to have) diabetes do something drastic right now and dont wait.
I don't do Paleo. I work out, and I eat from the outside perimeter of the grocery store. I eat 7 or 8 servings of fruits and vegetables which is something that gets lost when I am in a crappy eating mode.I also track my calories, not to be strick with calories but to keep myself in line, keep my focus, and see my progress. I eat protein with every meal or snack and carbs as well. I eat 5 times a day always. I struggle with weight gain but only when I am at TTR. I always make sure I lose weight before I go cause I know I will gain 5-10 lbs depending on the days there. I am drinking there and when at home I only drink the odd beer or cooler. It's so rare it's almost none exsistant. It makes sense that I will gain there drinking like a fish. 8 years ago I lost 65 lbs. I lost it eating a hypoglycemic diet. Yep it has carbs, protein and fat in proper percentages. That is how I lose weight always. Before last trip I lost 17 lbs in 9 weeks and put on alot of muscle. I work out 6-7 days a week and some times even double up those work outs when I am in bikini mode. I have nothing againest the Paleo diet but here is what I have notice. My sister who is on it, she was already skinny (she is a size 0)and had good muscle tone. She went on the diet for stomach issues with carbs. Basically she gets pain. This past christmas I saw her and well muscle tone has gone to shit. She had some serious angel wings for a girl who did have good muscle and she looked more wrinkled around her eyes not just a little but alot. Her completion seemed dull. last time I saw her was last Easter, she was skinny then so it not a change in weight that I am noticing as much as it is loose skin and a lack of energy. Just wondering if any of you have noticed less elasticity in your skin as a result.
He'll dieting sucks and we all do it. Bottom line if it tastes good don't eat it. What a bummer I love my chicken wings and Guiness.
I'm not being a smart ass when I say this. The best diet is the sex diet. We just made it up, but it works. Eat small healthy meals and then every time that your cravings for food are more than you can stand between meals, have sex. You can't eat while you're screwing, it is great exercise and by the time it's over, the craving has passed. Great for the relationship too! ;-)
