Wow I'm not sure since the carbs in most drinks are very high. I'd say something like rum and diet coke would be you best bet. Hard alcohol and any diet soda would be the same.
I would tend to second the rum and diet Coke (Coca-Cola Light) idea. The biggest thing is to really keep it simple. Stick to the light rum to reduce any risk of sugars added for flavor in some dark rums. Vodka is OK as is any type of whiskey or scotch. Obviously all fruit based drink mixers should be avoided as well as ALL liquers which generally contain a good amount of sugar. There is one caveat to all of this.... Keep in mind that if you run into a hypoglycemic situation (too much insulin if you are insulin dependent, etc.) then alcohol actually acts as a blocker for glycogen being released by the body into the bloodstream which means quick-fix boosts like orange juice will have little or no effect. - Brian
My husband is an insulin dependent diabetic (has an insulin pump). He normally sticks with bloody marys or something like that. The most important thing for him is to make sure that he drinks plenty of water and eats regular meals. Drinking without eating real food spells trouble.
I`m insulin dependent, 4 shots a day, 1 shot per meal and 1 at bedtime. I only drink beer, and lots of it. ( aprox 10 carbs per bottle/glass, according to the diabetic clinic I attend.) If 2 a day is your limit, you should have no problem with whatever drink you prefer. Malcolm.
