You sound a lot like us when we started this journey back in 2010. My recommendation, assuming you are going for a week, would be TTR for 3 nights followed by 4 nights at Desire RM (they sometimes have buy 3 get the 4th night free deals). The reasons are... TTR is perfect for the first step 'swayers' or those that want a more spring break for adults party. You can feel out whether these types of places are right for you and party hard if it is. Then at Desire you can sit back and recover, enjoy the sensually, lying naked in the sun. Then at night there are more 'swayer' type fun where you can decide if you just continue with the party approach or focus on sensual time with each other or take another step if you are so inclined. Nothing is forced in either world. Both good in their own ways. Try them both!
We can way in from out point of view. We just did a split between TTR and Desire RM. We are 49 and 45 and were in our 25th anniversary. We had not been to either one prior. We spent the first four at TTR and the next four at Desire RM. TTR is more of a party during the day. Pool games are fun and the people are great! We meet dine really nice people there if all walks of life. Service is good also. Sometimes a little wait at the bar but they are working hard. The food at Temptations is also good but not great. The theme nights were fun but we hated the constant techno music. Just our opinion on the music. If they would mix it up it would be ok I suppose. Desire is a step up in some regards.The people there were also friendly. Probably a little more swinger oriented resort but no body bothers you at all. We ate lunch when we arrived and I will admit it took a little getting used to the swinging peckers walking by when we first arrived. The little grill is right by the pool. The pool is small especially compared to temptations. The food and service are a step up. The food was really good and service was awesome. No need to go to the bar as they will bring you a drink. The day was spent relaxing at the pool then a shower and if to dinner. At 9 every night they had Band. 80s rock , reggae and top 40 one night. After that up to the disco. We did not go to the hot tub until the last night but it was nice. We went after dinner and there were just a few couples relaxing up there. No craziness like I have heard. Long story short do both. For us we may split again too. We liked both but maybe lean Desire...

I just wrote this on another thread: The party scene at Desire is jut different. I should be clear we went to RM, not Pearl. It's a smaller, more spread out resort, so it's never the rowdy party TTR is. Of course that depends on who is there that week. But even as experienced swingers, there are some things that didn't work for us at the resort (ie. no condoms anywhere WTF??). Sometimes we still end our trips with a couple days at Desire, but that's really when we're ready for relaxation and premium food. The party is definitely at Temptation. Oh, and we always tell people this if they're curious about Desire: Don't bother booking it ahead of time at the expensive rates online. Book Temptation for your full trip. TTR books up, and then when you arrive, they always offer people the option to switch to Desire, and usually for the same rate you would be paying at TTR (or drop a hint that you're curious about checking out Desire). You'll likely get transferred for free, and some perks, along with a much better rate, and you can always just leave this to be a last minute decision (ie. you get to see how much you like TTR first)
