I have heard good things about the place by Alamos. You turn off of Blvd. Donaldo Colosio, aka what was Tulum until it changed names at Bonampak or thereabouts, aka the road to the airport, at the Mercedes agency and it is on the left, near the school Alexandre (I forget the spelling after driving by it about 300 times.) Corrected thanks to RG pointing out the error of my ways. (Again)
TJ - Isn't Rodrigo Gomez also Kabah? Don't you mean Colosio, aka Ave Tulum, aka the Cancun-Tulum Hwy? Why does every street here have a gazillion names? That school is called Alexandre, I think.
And how come the big street signs aren't where the named street is located. It is the next big intersection.
Falafel Place There is a new Falafel place on Uxmal across from the Bus Station. I do believe it is owned by a young Israeli man. He professes to have THE BEST falafels!
@Rawkus - The kebab place where me and steve go (kabah/costco next to HC carnes) does falafel as well now - I didn't eat them but he makes them from scratch, not sure what they are like but might be woth a try. I nearly went to the place by the bus station the other day, but didn't like the look of the place and the people - did anyone eat there yet?
Mat: Haha, went to the one next to ADO, but turned and walked away as the dude looked SOOO high. No reaction whatsoever.. Asked for the falafels 3 times, and he just kept staring with empty eyes... :aktion030: Not that I care if people smoke, inject, snort or whatever, but considering they have the meat next to the falafel-mixture, Im sure I would get some "bonus" ingredients... Ill try the kebab place you mentioned, thanks. Thanks everyone else as well - guess I have some eating to do :aktion025:
We tried the place near the bus station. It's called Falafel Kingdom; it should be called Falafel Fiefdom, imho. There's long-haired hippie-looking guy there who speaks no Spanish, but he speaks English...so if you get a blank look out of him try English. (Other people who work there do speak both Spanish and English.) They are indeed from Israel. The food was fine, hubby's was better than mine I think. Not the best falafel I've ever had, but for Cancun it was decent enough. The place lacks decor, it's just a hole in the wall, a dive. It doesn't look like it will last long...
