The cold front has arrived and temperatures are in the mid 50's here in South Central Texas. Palm trees at the end of our block and 1.5 to 2 hours drive to the beach from the driveway...
TimBeck and Jnine....I know what you are talking about being in Ohio and everything. I have lived in Alabama and then in Tampa Florida. I loved the warm weather but love being back in the seasons and having the lakes and all that it has to offer. I can tell you that mid summer in FL is so hot and that is why we have talked about doing NC or going West.
There are places out West that are very nice also! Oregon is one of my favorites, along with British Columbia, and Utah has some beautiful spots. Northern California and the Sierra Nevada mountains can be awesome, but it's very hard to give up the lakes we have here. At this point I've been to the desert enough though to get excited about Arizona. Mexico's Baja peninsula is unique and there are a lot of interesting towns down the coast. One of my best memories is crossing a dry lake bed, cresting a hill in the most barren, brown, rock infested desert I could imagine, and down below was the sparking blue waters of the Sea of Cortez. Awesome. You can swim with the whales near Rosarito at times there also!
Yeah I would definitely miss the seasons. I think we can all agree that the snowbirds haven't figured out best! Now just need to have enough money to retire so I can have a semi permanent place down in Florida or Texas and come back up to Michigan for the summers. In the fall. I love fall it is my favorite season of the year.
That's what we've said too... Be here in the spring, summer, fall, but after Christmas head someplace else until May. Nice plan, but who knows if it will ever work out that way! lol
Maybe when they do the renovations they should build and sell condos at TTR for all the snowbirds to buy for the winters
Left Ohio for Florida 46 years ago this month never looked back. Yes it is hot in the summer but never have to shovel snow or drive in slush. As a side note USA Transfers booked today for arrival on the 4th of Dec.
coping with Sex and Long Winters! 23 days and counting for us They couldn't jet off to Mexico like us to get out of the cold so this was one of the ways to keep warm;-) How the Eskimo's handled it! an excerpt The best known example of ritual spouse exchange was the "putting-out-of-the-lamps game" played in Greenland by the Eskimos's. This was a sort of combination of seven minutes in heaven, Roman orgy, and prayer meeting. The prayer-meeting aspect failed to overcome the objections of the early Christian missionaries, one of whom called it the "whore game." Those guys really know how to ruin a party. To play at home: gather together a number of married couples (according to some sources, singles could play too); wait for the angekok to contact the spirits; turn out the lights; screw a random member of the opposite sex; turn on the lights. The idea seemed to be that the spirits would be more willing to cooperate if you did it that way. Who are we to disappoint the spirits? This game was played only in Greenland!
Never really hot ..... never really cold ..... Scotland!!! That's why we go to Mexico for holidays !!!!
