Jan 19th woman drowning in sexy pool.

I have been looking in the news for anything pertaining to this lady. I in fact walking along the backside of the sexy pool close to 7. A man passing me and my husband said is that a blow up doll floating, I looked and immediately knew it was not! I jumped in the pool, she was floating face down arms down towards the bottom of the pool. I turned her over and she was blue in the lips and not breathing. I put my arms under her across her chest to hold her head out of the water and pulled her to the steps, still at this time no one noticed us. My husband ran around the pool to meet us and helped me pull her up the steps she was very heavy and her body felt loose.

At that point a nurse and firefighter came running over and asked to assist in CPR. I don't know why I didn't start it myself or let them but I kick myself everyday since, but I knew from her body she had been in there a while at least 15 mins I'm not an expert or anything just had a feeling. I think at that point I just was to overwhelmed and they are professionals and do CPR regularly and my CPR was out date. I was scared. The firefighter and nurse tried there best and she did spit out water or maybe it was the chest compression and forced air in the lungs not sure. At this point I took her bracelet off and yelled at the staff to find her friend she needed to be here at least 3 times, and she did find her in the end. Staff did not know what to do ems there didn't even intibate her, they shone a light in her eyes and pronounced her.

This whole event has rocked me to the core. I tried to talk to her friend but she was upset and I didn't want to cause her anymore heartache. I was just glad they found her and someone knew what had happened. What bothers me the most was no one questioned us no statements no info forwarded nothing. She was someone's daughter, mother, sister and its like it never happened! I can't find any info I don't even know her name. I was scared to ask to many question at the resort.

The sexy pool was opened with in the hour and people were party in there the next day! I know in Canada the fire police ems would be everywhere and I know this is an unreal expectation for Mexico but I am shocked how different they deal with emergencies. I will never go back to Mexico. The resort was great but it was just to melancholy how the situation was dealt with. If anyone knows her name or what happened, ie heart attack or did she pass out in the pool I would like to know.

They do have cameras all over and ask the bartender that was there that night if he knew if they had looked to see how long she was in there. I need piece of mind that there wasn't more I could have done as I am sure the nurse and the firefighter feel the same way. Why has this not gone to news yet either? From my research it seems this is not uncommon for resorts to have drownings as there was a near on in the same pool a week prior? I hope she got home to her family and I am truly sorry for their loss. I have cried for them for me for everyone that tried to help. I never in a million years thought this would be what I would remember my first vacation to Mexico to be.

    Sincerely angela

My best guess and I was not there is that the emt's saw no reason to suspect anything but a tragic but natural death. If you come to TTR I would expect a work hard party hard attitude.

A death can certainly put one off but I would be hard pressed to fault the hotel.

I just hope she eent peacefully and happy

Thank you for sharing Angela. I'm sorry this happened, and you did an amazing job. My husband pulled a single guy out of the pool last June. He was floating on the bottom. Just so happened we were watching him when he went under. Security then made him leave the pool area.

We had someone die at dinner on our cruise a few years back. They tried CPR and shock. No luck in bringing him back. They brought out table sheets and held them up for privacy. They moved those closest away, but everything else went on. I think they did cancel the singing and dancing at the tables that night.
When we returned to Miami they had a ambulance waiting to pickup the body. Cruise ships do have morgues, death on a cruise ship happen more than you think.
    Sorry for this familys loss.

Thank you for your quick thoughts and reaction to such a serious incident. No matter what and where, if you respond to an event in which someone looses a life or you know that it is traumatic enough to where the person could loses their life, it will forever be in the back of your head wondering "did I do enough?". Know this... With you being the first person to respond and pull her from the water, you gave her more hope to life than anyone else could have ever done! That is everything you could do! If you didn't feel the way you feel, after dealing with that situation, you would have to see it everyday and be numb to that kind of thing. You are human and a VERY good one at that!

I was at my mother-in-laws with our 2yr old at the time, playing in the back yard when I heard screaming cries and looked up. I saw a child leaning out of a third story window and a baby girl(about 5-6yrs old) laying on the concrete below. I yelled for my wife to call 911 and I went to the girl. Having blood coming from her ears, nose and eyes, it was more of a tragic shock to my system than I could ever handle. I replayed that scenario in my head for the next 5 years. I had tried calling the hospital, local PD, firedept and even the news to get an update on that poor girl. I could not however bring myself to knock on the door weeks later to see what the outcome was.

You WILL survive(mentally and physically), you WILL be able to visit Cancun again, and you WILL do it again if the need ever arises. That is what made you be the first one to her!!! You fight for the good things and will always be there to survive and help others to fight to do the same. That is what you should thankful for and I am sure all of her loved ones will be thankful for as well.

It sounds to me like you did everything you possibly could as first on the scene, you shouldn't feel guilty at all. If a firefighter and nurse arrived at the scene quickly then leaving it to the professionals was the right thing to do.

As I understand it this happened on the Saturday, that day the weather was not very good and I guess the pool area was either empty or very quiet. It gets dark at 5:30 and the pool bar closes at 6 in the winter. A lone person in the pool is going to be virtually unseen.

I don't think Mexico deals with emergencies different to anyone else. Foul play was not suspected, there was no need for Police Fire and EMS to be everywhere.

I checked the local newspapers and could not find any reports. As I mentioned before, sad as they are, natural deaths of tourists are common enough not to be newsworthy. 6 million tourists pass through Cancun airport annually, if the average person stays 7 days then there are over 115,000 tourists in the area on an average day. Unfortunately, this kind of thing happens.

Thank you for your kind words. I do hope that you know that they apply to you as well. I hope I will find out what truly happened and that she returned to her family quickly. Your experience was a horrifying one I can't imagine dealing with that. My thoughts are with you. And thank you again for your response.

I agree that maybe it wasn't nessary for all the police or firefighters but that's how it would be whether it was foul play or not they don't rule it out till after an investigation. And absolutely many tourist come here and things happen whether they are here or home anywhere. There was about 30 people at the bar at the sexy pool. And while her body was in an area that wasn't visible unless you were on the sides of the pool you could not see over the bar. She was right in Front of the swim up bar in the middle of the pool( in the light) regardless I hold no one to blame just my thoughts as a whole. It's sad but hope she made it home.

I am sure her family appreciates all that you tried to do for her. Only 1 in 20 can be revived with CPR, you all tried, and it didn't work. You shouldn't beat yourself up about that, although I can guess how you feel. You feel like you didn't do enough. If your doing CPR you know that person is already in a dead state. If you bring her back you got lucky and God was on your side.
So sorry that this ruined your vacation, I can only imagine that it absoulutely changed everything for you.
