Check out bidding for your room on Skyauction.com

Some people are worried about all the fine print on the bids but it's pretty easy to use. We have used our bids on Skyauction for our last three trips and we only paid $21 dollars a day per person plus tax- that's all inclusive and does not include airfare. We fly out of Toronto so our airfare is cheap flying out during the week days. You have to be on top of the bid at closing time- that's key to watching it. Sometimes I will take my laptop to work and have my fingers ready for the bid during the last 3 mins.

(I prob just screwed myself at ever winning another cheap bid but your have to share the wealth of this secret.)

Good luck and if you see bids from Locobean please don't bid against me or I will find you at the Sexy Pool and booby slap you.

I would love to know more about skyauction.com. Are they reliable? What are the risk? Is a memebership required? Why would a hotel use them when they seem to be able to sell at a much higher price without using them?

I, admittedly am a travel whore and would like to know about every option out there to get a deal. The prices that you have gotten are tremendous. I would love to know more.

There's no membership, no fee & low risk if you know how much you want to pay and when you are going. SkyAuction is a public auction for destinations all over the world. Most of the vacation spots are time share sell offs. The bids for TRS and Desires are not placed on the site by the resort. You are buying it from a third party. TRS will honour the travel voucher once it is booked with Skyauction and they transfers the funds.

What you read in the bid/fine print is what you get. Once you place a bid, the taxes will be added and you will know the cost per day you will be paying. I work with 10 other co workers who use the site and so far no problems that I have heard of. There is a complaint website if you want to read more.

Opps I guess I should not say there's no fee....if you win a bid there is a $20 processing charges per vacation.

Small price for a cheap deal!

Another English couple we met at Desire last Jan booked their trip through travelbag, but didn't pay any less than us. So if you're asking if they are kosher, I would say yes, but do your research.

Taxes and service charges at the end (ie for Desire in Cabo are 49 @ night per person) can change a good deal into a so so deal.( still good if you win @ 75 PP +49),,,, oppps I kept reading,,,,

    ''Surcharge
    • Winter Surcharge (now-4/30/2013) for $25 per person per night''
There may look like good deals but when you add everything up your up to 300 @ night and thats the opening bid .

I,m sure they have good deals, just be sure to read everything

We had a horrible experience with skyauction. Will never use them again. The fine print says your dates are not guaranteed. If you pick a busy time you can get screwed. Basically you have to request your dates. They then are supposed to confirm those dates in a set time frame, I think a couple weeks? Well for our trip in feb 2011 I requested our dates several months in advance. A couple weeks go by and no response. I ask for an answer and they respond saying they are still working to confirm. A month goes by and still nothing. I say I need an answer so I can book elsewhere if I need to and I can book flights. They say they need more time. They said I could cancel but would lose the fees. So I was stuck. I had to wait. So we waited and waited and waited. Eventually i had to book a flight as prices for air went up and up. Then a couple weeks before the trip they said, sold out, please pick other dates. Now if they said this months ago then no big deal. But at this point flights were booked. We were able to book via other options for the exact dates so the resort wasn't sold out. We were given our money back including fees but I lost money on air and a last minute hotel booking. Plus tons of aggravation. Good that someone on here was 3 for 3 but I was 0-1. Maybe the time you go is key. Never again will I go through that!

I have used sky auction, for other resorts.. Every time I priced everything out on sky auction for Temptation I found a site, like Alpharooms or way back Skoosh, had Temptations for cheaper.. I'm talking even if my bid was $1 because of the fee's and taxes..
Tax and service charge of $49.00 per person per night is additional.
    Surcharges
Winter 2013 (now-4/5/2013) for $55 per person per night
    Spring/Summer 2013 (4/6/2013-8/17/2013) for $20 per person per night
So right off the bat a trip in May is $138 per night.. Not including whatever you win the bid for..
Not horrible, but doesn't always work out..
I was bummed when Hedo and Breezes caught on.. I got some really cheap trips to both via sky auction..
Again I am a travel bargain junkie..
