During my flight to Cancun on March 9th my football team will be playing in an FA Cup quarter final, i get free goal alerts from the club, so my question is.... Once i am flying over american shores, will my mobile phone work in the aircraft???

A guy next to me on a flight from geneva just kept his phone on silent. So not sure whether it would really be THAT bad.
