The sniffer dogs are there to find drugs or fruits or vegetables. We often travel with fresh fruit for the flight like a banana and then jen forgets it is in her purse. Dog sniffs like crazy at her purse and then sits and handler searches the bag. Always freaks me out. This year I am putting the banana in my pants ha Let’s see who gets freaked out now lol
I've taken diet pepsi (pepsi lite...yuck!), red bull (a must-have for the jager), and liquor/rum the last two trips. Bags are scanned before getting put onto the baggage belt, and when they contain items to potentially be declared, the bags are put on their side on the belt as a red flag to customs folks who are watching. When you pick up the bag, approached and asked if you're bringing these items, and how much -- they already know, so I gave an honest "yes", said exactly how much, and asked if I needed to pay taxes got me a quick search to verify the first time, and waved on the 2nd. The next trip (July 4-8), might have some fun and play shell game -- kick over the bag off it's side the first time it goes by, then pick it up as it comes by the 2nd.

Terminal 4 is brand new and freakin a breeze. Walked right thru with no red/green light button. Just waved us thru. Of course it was 9ish on a Sat morning. Loved it.
I swear my bags always get checked at customs and sorted through, May have something to do with all of the sex toys I pack
We used to get the full treatment both coming and going. We now have Global Entry and that at least gets us a free pass in the states.
We've been flying Sun Country out of Dallas the last few years. A budget airline, but great service on the plane.
