That sort of jives with what the Customs agent's questions when we came back in... On the way down to CUN I bought a bottle of Crown in the Duty Free (not thinking I was going to buy the damn timeshare, more idiot I. Buying the Crown, not the timeshare.))

$22 for 1L, decent price, and then I'd have my Canada in the bottle with me in the room. Good plan I thought. Then I go and get the membership and now there's oodles of Crown for me everywhere I go. Long story short, I can leave the bottle, or take it back, or give it to people at the pool. *shrug* This time I packed it.

Customs guy asked if we had anything, I said yes, a bottle of Canadian bourbon, he said is it worth more than $5,000, causing me to blink, then I said "Uh, well, no." He said all right, have a nice day.

I've never heard of that double duty thing and I've lieved in TX most of my adult life. Sure you didn't get shafted by a guy in a bad mood?

Up to three liters of liquor and six liters of wine but i generally just buy what ever i want in the Duty free shop in the airport. The prices are very reasonable, no tax and I don't have to worry about my checked bag weighing too much. The F needs that space for shoes. :)
