Seeing a lot of posts regarding tipping. Does everyone change currency prior to traveling, if so what is the recommendation, change before or while there? Tip in your own currency? If not leaving hotel, necessary to have pesos? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk
Depends on what you have. I find most Americans like to stick to their currency because the don't have to worry about exchanging back at the end of their trips. Just be ready to pay the premium (locals will more than likely give you 10:1 in markets etc instead of the 15:1 or whatever it is now) As for Canadians like myself some get USD just because they are more familiar with it. But I've always been a proponent that if you're going to exchange then there's no reason to get a currency other than Pesos, after all why pay an exchange rate twice?
We planned on doing our souvenir money in pasos so we don't get screwed on prices and everything else in our currency US for tipping and exc... bc the exchange rate is better for the locals so theyll like it I figure Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
We are going to do pesos for one main reason, they are waterproof so when we are in tbe pool and tip they arent getting waterlogged money.
We never exchange for tipping and only use Credit Cards for shopping that way we get the best exchange rates. Never had a problem with CC fraud either before someone goes there. Have a great trip!!
