Hope your knee op goes well. I have had four knee ops and found the pool a good place to do some gentle knee exercises. It is surprising how quickly you lose muscle in your operated leg. One of the operations they had to make the cut a bit bigger and it healed up ok, but did noticed if I spend a long time in the pool it started to weep, this was like a week after the stitches were taken out. On a funny note last year I went to Australia on my own and got stopped by the German security. I had a full leg brace on for the flight and kept triggering the buzzers off. I got carted off by two guys and given a strip search to see if I had any weapons hidden inside. :flaguk:
Well if you are just a scope ( this works even with extensive incisions) opsite is a spray on self sealing waterproof occlusive dressing. Great for your application and used with cardiac patients post surgery to allow them to get in the pool. Take some large freezer ziploc bags, the nice gentlemen at the bars will fill them with ice for you and voila you will have ice packs. Also really important so soon post op, get some support stockings to prevent blood clots which are common enough for all flying but you, due to decreased muscle use are a bit more susceptible. The recovery nurses might just be able to provide the thigh high anti embolytic kind which are a pain but work great. Follow all the ground floor advice and good footwear for healthy leg. Also the doc in me thinks that you may be put on blood thinners post op so be sure to find out what the issues are for drinking and te meds they put you on.
Ugh. Update - I'm going in for surgery next week, and will likely have to put my trip off until april break.
That is too bad, however there is a silver lining to that cloud. If you come in mid to late April I can personally guarantee you will have an absolute blast. I will make it my goal in life! Sure many women I can accomplish this with just by going away but I am easy to laugh at!
That does sound like a plus :mnm: I really hate this doing-the-right-thing grownup thing I'm doing though. Ick.
So sorry to hear that- was looking forward to discussing education policy with you ;-) Or getting drinks, lol. Be well.
AUGH! You ever just have one of those weeks that everything goes back and forth? It's a pet peeve of mine. As of right now, surgery isn't until the 14th. Of March. Now, its turned into a money issues as my district has hold of my extra check that *should* have been in my paycheck today. I have the time to come and not the cash. I'm about ready to kill people. :lighting1: Vacation planning on hold for now.
