We have friends that we’re in Cancun last weekend. Group of 8. Not sure what hotel. Many tested positive when they got back, and one when they were down there. He is still there, and has taken the test two or three more times, all positive. Just has a sore throat. He has a note from a dr. saying he is recovered, not sure if the airline will accept it or not. Not sure what he will do if they don’t. He’s trying tomorrow. He’s been locked in his room the whole time, as he doesn’t have a room key. They bring him three meals a day. Not sure if some hotels are more strict, or if anyone has tested positive at TTR yet? Maybe @Steve could shed some light on the difference, if any of the hotel zone? So, at least I know it’s happened to one person so far.
We were in Cancun over the holidays. Got tested the day before our return flight at an “unnamed” resort. One negative, one positive test. Testing positive at the resort makes for a bad last 24 hours. We know from experience, there are ways to get guaranteed negative tests.
I do not want to ruin a good thing by bragging too much, but I wouldn’t worry about catching Covid at Temptations, y’all. It’s just my one experience but if I would have known then what I know now… I would not have stressed a bit!
Make sure you tip the the ladies conducting your COVID test at least $20 when you are getting tested *wink, wink*
We are Canadian and had to do a PCR for the way back. I don’t want to go into too much detail, but hopefully you can learn from our experience. If you want a negative pcr, just so you can get back home and not have to isolate in Mexico, and don’t care about accuracy, we strongly suggest you get tested at the resort. No tipping needed, unless you want to. Do not go across the street, unless you want something accurate. If you just want a negative result, because you just want to get home, get tested at the hotel. You can then mask up for the plane ride, test when you get home, and deal with the results by isolating in the comfort of your own house.
