Maybe, for now. Sweden will likely get far fewer overall though as the spread will be stopped via herd immunity, while other countries go through multiple phases of outbreaks. All without crashing their economy.
Most experts I’ve read, have said that social distancing won’t really lower the deatht count. It just delays it.
Sweden also has a number of factors going for it compared to the US. Much healthier population on average (ranked top 10 worldwide), nearly half the US obesity rate, more doctors per capita, greater access to routine medical care, goverment mandated sick pay, and a population that appears to be more compliant with recommended medical treatment (nearly 100% voluntary compliance with immunization for communicable diseases). I am not sure that Sweden's approach (even if ultimately deemed successful) would play out the same way in the US.

Your opinion is the herd immunity will result in the death rates and cases slowing down in Sweden and the other countries way behind them on lockdown, Norway and Finland for example, will pass them? I suppose this is a dig at Fox News? There is really no difference between CNN and MSNBC. MSNBC in late January was criticizing Trumps ban on flights from China. They said he was trying to distract the American people from his impeachment. They went as far, as to have guest "experts" come on their show, and say that Corona was not going to be a problem, and in the end wouldn't be any worse than the seasonal flu. At the time anchors were "chirping" about this being a hoax, to have a fair discussion, and not be rooting for your own home team, you must look back and see what the WHO, Dr. Fauci, and were saying, and remember that we didn't even have a dozens deaths back then. Sure hindsight is easy, and fun when you get to criticize someone you don't like, but stopping this virus from spreading wasn't going to happen, no matter what anyone said, did, or didn't do. In all honesty I would love for someone to say what could have been done that would have changed this. How do you test for a disease, with test that hadn't even been invented yet, and that non-symptomatic people can carry? You would literally need to test tens of millions of US citizens per day. That in itself is impossible.
