Been a while Dan? No, the airport road doesn't go past it It's about a mile from the tourist Walmart, towards the football stadium. I dont think the USA Transfers driver would stop there for you Mel, the shopping stop they do offer is at the Superama (owned by Walmart, but smaller) which is on the airport road to Cancun. If you really do want to go take the bus to Walmart and then a taxi (or walk it) from there. Note there is no bus stop or taxi rank at Costco but you should be able to flag a taxi. We shop at Costco regularly but only for stuff we buy in bulk - there isn't really much the average tourist will want that you cant get at either Walmart or La Europea. It's fine if you want to buy a new TV or a 128 pack of toilet rolls.... but I don't expect you do! There is also a Sams Club right by Walmart that will carry much of the same as Costco does.
Wow, I think he needs to get down to Cancun ASAP!!! What'cha doing in about 3 weeks, Dan? George and Debbie
Really? I don't remember it being out of the way... Head North out of the airport, take a left at the circle... Maybe not right on the main road, but it only seemed a minute or 2 off it. Costco was decent for wine... and unless Walmart upped their wine selection... And Costco did have the best treats. My list was: -Wine -2 x case of Gatorade -Room snacks - Beef jerky, nuts, pepperoni sticks I think I remember seeing flavored Vodka... Yes - I remember buying Vodka flavored Vodka. Not sure about any other flavors - wasn't looking for them.
Yeah it's not too far out of the way, 2 miles at most off the main road Off the main road to downtown Cancun you take a left down Av Kabah, not far after Galenia Hospital. For wine then La Europea is going to have a better selection than Costco I think. I dont buy/drink wine so not 100% sure.
I thought about it. It came up again last night at the bar again. A buddy offered to pick up the flights for a 4-5 day weekend over the May 24 weekend and convinced Miss Waste that I should go with him as he hasn't had a vacation in 4 years and it's my fault. I've been away more than I've been home since Dec. I'll take any home time I can get right now.
Blah.. I just wanted to stop somewhere on the way to the resort. Not that I wouldn't pay extra. Of course I would. I just dislike Walmart that much. Lol. Fine I'll go to crooked Wally world and get our drinks there.. But I wont like it. Lol I hate giving the evil empire $$$
La Eurporea right across the street from evil Wally! Larger selection and as good or better prices. Jamie
I couldn't agree more with that sentiment. I don't like wallyworlds business practices. They treat their employees poorly and their vendors even worse if you can believe it. Not to mention the huge number of independently owned businesses they drive to the poor house. AND the complete shift in traffic patterns when they open a MEGA STORE in my little town!!! OK I am done now. :ranting1:
I completely agree about treating their vendors even worse and driving the small business out of town. They basically tell vendors what price Walmart will buy it at OR they will remove all their products from the shelves. Pretty crooked if you ask me. I try to avoid Walmart like the plague. Not trying to get to far off topic here, but I would just pay a few bucks more and shop at the small place across from TTR or at the duty free for alcohol.
