We would love to try Desire, but it's just too rich for our budget. I love reading trip reports about how luxurious + clean the place is. (Keep posting, everyone!) That's why we love Temptation. It might not be 5 star or "the best", but it's more than good enough + we can afford to go twice a year. -Mrs. Cheers
I will be honest a few of the post are making me nervous for my trip in April. Just the comments its dirty and others. Is it really that bad.
Just a note: Things often are not as bad or as good as some people would suggest! I bet that you will love TTR!
You can only put so much lipstick on a pig. I totally understand everything your saying. Everyone, Temptations is one of the oldest hotels in the hotel zone. We all love it but by no means can anyone not think it needs some major work done. They've done all they could with the bones that exist there now. But look at the Cancun market now compared to just 10 to 12 years ago. Many older resorts have been bulldozed or been converted to basically condos. Resorts built in the 90's with much higher construction standards have been extensively remodeled. Some even changed hands to bigger hotel corporations and extensively remodeled and rebranded. The truth is Temptations has been hanging on by a thread simply because of the niche market they have. But with the rapid changes in the market you can't stay status quo for very long. Look at the Riviera Maya in the last 20 years. It has gone from nothing to beautiful resorts from mid level to some of the highest standards in the resort business at price points that many can afford. This trend just continues to explode in that area. The government has/continues to pump a lot of resources in that area to making it as much or more attractive than Cancun hotel zone. It's hard to attract new customers to Temptations when for the same money they look at these luxury resorts through out the Riviera Maya that make Temptations look like a Motel 6 on the surface. Many resorts in Cancun deal with the rapid changes in the Riviera Maya area. I hate seeing it close for awhile for the work to be done but I rather have it brought up to today's standards then be left for dead and maybe not even exist in 20 years. Nick P.S.: I know everyone is worried about price and I'd assume a higher standard will bring some price changes. But at the same time the market is so saturated with resorts that Temptations can never compete with(location and size) that I think the prices will be manageable for most. Then again as a Premier member many times logic can be thrown out the window.
A big rate increase will be managements biggest Temptation. The problem with that is it makes other places more desirable, especially if they begin to offer a similar atmosphere and sexy party. It will also cause some to cut back, and others to move on entirely. There comes a point where one has to evaluate the value for the buck. I'm sure we would cut way back, or try something new, especially if they offer a similar party.
It's brutal , the A/C doesn't work , the food sucks , the beach is the pits , people pee in the pool , never any pool chairs , creepers with cameras everywhere , the liquor is watered down , mildew in the bathrooms , rusty bathroom fixtures , there's nothing on the TV that we can understand , the DJs at night are awful ........... BUT THERES TITTIES AND BEER AND WE THINK THE PLACE IS F:$&@in AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:biggrinbandit::flash::69::3some:
Had to find her,,, she was reluctant to comment on this subject again . She says,, things look promising , also there will be new friends in the near future, and great thing to look forward too. She also says to avoid the Stupid Monkey , because it will crap on you .
I know I've posted this be for but if you read the Cancun Wikipedia page ...... "Due to the reluctance of investors to bet on an unknown area, the Mexican government had to finance the first nine hotels."[11] The first hotel financed was the Hyatt CancĂșn Caribe, but the first hotel actually built was the Playa Blanca, which later became a Blue Bay hotel, and is now Temptation Resort. At the time it was an elite destination, famous for its virgin white sand beaches Personally my classiness tops out at about 3.5 stars so this place is just about perfect for us in terms of elegance and price. All the things we love about TTR is what makes it top out at about 3 stars. As Donald said the fancier it is the more the atmosphere will change and all us fun peeps will be driven out. I agree no one wants a flooded room or broken A\C that's ridiculous and if its more than just a one off problem (and it sounds like it is) those issues need to be addressed sooner than later. More so I hope they leave it as it is- musty smelling rooms, abandoned Cigar bar, getting up at 6 to reserve a chair, yelling at creeps to put there camera's away, Channel 12 and everything else that makes this place so great . The only thing I'd like to see is a quieter place you can go sit and talk in the evenings. We have only been going since 09 and the current Nice Shoes location was in place then but back when we first started going Patio's was a quieter place to sit and chat and the music and dancing was in Nice Shoes. I don't mind that they moved the dancing out but some nights it would be nice to have an alternative place to just go and chat. Sit down have a few drinks maybe snack on something. I suppose they could add some tables to the sports bar or something like that. Just an idea.
And I forgot to mention "the Boobs Cruise" well that's about as exciting as watching the carpet fade :aktion069:. Pretty freakin' awesome. EH !!!!
