To be honest, there's been times at TTR where the "cliqueish thing" was also alive and well. April Addicts always seemed like the most open. The groups around Halloween always seemed the most closed off. Never really bothered us. Seems like it has become more like that since the renovation. Can't wait to try out DRM.
We always have our fun but the socializing (along other things) is why we go there. We've never seen it this bad at TTR in the 6 times we've been...maybe because of the difference in size between the 2 places but DRM felt like any other resort on the first 2 days we were there. So if it's like any other resort, why not pay a third of that price and go anywhere else. Gladly, things turned for us and we had a great time on the last 2 days and it was well worth it. We can't wait to check out the new Grand Miches. Hope there won't be too many quirks in this new building.
Our first experience with DRM is the opposite (been there twice now this year). No "cliqueish thing" at all was found at DRM. Much more so at TTR (or takes more energy at TTR). We tried DRM for the first time this past March and had the mindset that we were going to keep to ourselves and have a sensuous, quiet, non-social vacation. Instead, DRM felt familiar fast and we were at ease almost immediately, easily meeting people. Although our experience is limited at DRM to two trips, it seems as groups do not go to DRM as frequently as TTR, so most guests have the same starting point.
