Just my two cents, as i stayed a couple of times in Cancun for 2 week, 4 weeks, 6 months. The Hotelzone has three features: - Oceanview (if youre lucky and pay alot) - Beach and Ocean - Clubs Cons: - Groccery shopping ? No way... Only mini-supers. So calc in a long drive to Walmart. - Insane Traffic at some times (My pers record is 1:20 hours from La Isla to the Clubs) - High rents. ( There are super cheap studios for like 5500 pesos but well , no ocean view, and dirtholes) - Lack of Infrastructure (Doctors, Schools, special Stores (office deport etc). - Expect for Surfing Burrito there are limited venues to eat something for an affordable price. - Well and its full of tourists :-D haha.. yes, we can be annoying sometimes. - Higher prices for everything. But to be honest, how often do you actually go to the beach if you LIVE there? Everything gets odd if you can have it all the time. At some point you dont appreciate it that much anymore. The Cons def make it more preferable to live downtown and take a bus/cab to the HZ. Cheers Nico
No one has replied to Scorpio with anything about the fees if one puts the condo in the rental pool, to be rented as a hotel unit, for the day, week or month. I believe the "condo fees" applicable to rentals are if the owner rents it out to others, outside the rental pool of hotel room rentals. It would not surprise me that there is a fee/commission for the renting of the unit, in addition to the maintenance and cleaning fees.
Scorpio, you have to let me know your system for picking lottery numbers A month ago you were looking for a job as a Russian speaking tour guide, unlikely to pay more than $1000 a month. Now you're looking at buying a half/one million dollar condo, swimming the ocean daily and driving back and forth up and down the hotel zone umpteen times a day, living a life of leisure. Let me know how you do it. I need a piece of that!
