We agree... This would look very dated in a short time, especially the tooth-ache inspiring color scheme. But they can probably paint over it someday when whatever this theme is falls out of fashion. Or because they alienated the TTR regulars, the whole concept failed, and new owners take over. The thing is, what they showed in the video was only a CONCEPT drawing. The final design will probably have some of the elements seen, but very doubtful all make it. I'm really not that excited about the design myself. The giant box design shown seems cold and unimaginative for a resort. But that's just our opinion and it's only a concept drawing.
Doing GP with about 16 other octoberbreasters,, we are bringing the party with us sept 30-oct 9,, sens just looked sub par from what I have seen and read..GP might not be TTR but the group will be the TTR fun..if there are prudes there at GP that dont like our fun..well thats for them to get over..ima having fun..and if the management at GP is smart they are gonna run with this opertunity to swipe some TTR regulars if ttr does in fact get pricey
My 2 cents. I think the hotel's offer is reasonable, and I'd even go as far as saying I think it's generous. They really didn't have to offer anything at all to those who previously booked dates that will now not be available, except a refund. Instead they have offered: - bring your date forward to before the closure at no extra expense and receive a room upgrade plus a free lobster dinner or boat trip to Isla Mujeres (not the Boobs Cruise I should add). Comments: Sept, Oct, Nov Dec (up until Christmas) are usually the cheapest times of year so allowing people to move to a more expensive time of year (June, July, August) is a good deal. Plus the room upgrade and free dinner/boat trip - that's worth a few dollars too - relocate to Oasis Sens and get 2 free nights at TTR once reopened Comments: Oasis Sens is the closest possible thing to TTR. A much better option for TTR folks than Golden Parnassus imho. However, it still isn't TTR and I think people looking for TTR style fun may end up disappointed, unless they are part of a co-ordinated large group - even then it wont be the same - rebook once TTR reopens at same rate as existing booking Comments: We all know prices will increase. So, again, a good deal imho Conclusion: As mentioned, I don't think TTR were under any obligation to offer anything at all except a refund of hotel costs. They have come up with 3 options, all of which have a financial value. In securing their deal with Oasis Sens they have come up with the closest to TTR experience possible. If it were me: I would either move my trip earlier or hold for the re-opening.
Regarding the comments about the hotel must have known about it for a long time, with updated website etc, why didn't they give more notice? My understanding is that yes they have been planning this for a long time (I have always said full shutdown was coming) and they have been preparing for it. However, they were waiting on loan approval before any formal announcement could be made. That dragged on and on, but approval finally came through a few days before the 2016 Tianguis. Tianguis is Mexico's biggest travel and tourism trade fair, held once a year. Things moved very quickly after loan approval because of the once in a year opportunity the Tianguis presented to get the word out to the Travel Industry.
I'm very happy with the offers they came up with..we are taking the rebook for next year offer..we already have GP booked so..all in all....very happy ..glad to know 16 months out I will be at the new TTR..
Thank you Steve, we have been reading about the two resorts (Oasis vs Golden) but reviews are like Buttholes everyone has one. We wanted a unbias recommendation from a Pro which is you. RCI still hasn't contacted us and TTR has but has not decided what we will be offered. We are just looking to see what is the best with the situation. CP
So Steve ...in your honest opinion do you really think that they are still working on leasing the Sens? If they do succeed.....will they be offering members weeks? Seems like they could overlook the fact that it's not TTR but at least everyone is still coming to the party and using their membership weeks will certainly be cheaper than booking anywhere else.
I don't think they are leasing the Sens but have an arrangement to move guests over. That is based on my conversation with Premier Club when moving my week.
